Action Park Mag artical

I was looking through my newest issue of Weird NJ Magazine and they have a 5 page story about the defunct Action Park in Veron NJ. Its pretty neat. They have first hand accounts of accidents that happen there and talk about how it was miss managed. They built a water slide with a loop in it, which sounds insane. Does anyone remember this place? I personally was never there but it sounds like a crazy place that wasn't safe at all. They also talk about SFGADV a little bit as well.

Thanks,

I was there a few times and itwas one of the best parks to try different things. I loved the skydiving tunnel they had and the gocarts were great. They had a lot of awesome water slides and alpine slides. How long ago did it close down? I was there in the 70s.
There is a picture and some discussion about the looping waterslide here.

Action Park is still operating as Mountain Creek.

So I was unable to find it... but does this looping slide still exist? I realize the park exists, but I don't see any good pictures to know if this still exists...
Weird NJ is awesome. I remember seeing commercials for Action Park when I was younger, but we never went. Even then, I was not so interested in risking my safety for fun.

When I was growing up in northwestern NJ, that place was nicknamed Fracture Park.

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."

The park was bought and closed in 1998. It reopened in 2000 with a new name and new management. Since then they have won awards for being a safe park and other stuff.

Growning up in North Jersey they said kids there new atleast 1 person that was injuried badly at Action park. A ER Dr at a local hospital said they got 5-10 patients a day with sprain ankles or cuts and bruises.

They had an Alphine Slide like Camelback had or still has. Does anyone know if Camelback's slide is still running?

Thanks,

I remember the TV ads for the place too. I also remember an MTV show that I watched religiously, Headbangers Ball, had a few shows taped there. It was cool to see famous Heavy metal personalities goofing off at the park.

I am showing my age.

It was closed a few years ago to expand Camelbeach. Im interested into seeing where Camelback goes now, since its under new ownership.

As far as Action Park Ive never been to the one in NJ, but there was one oddly enough at the bottom of the mountain near Camelback. Its now a huge outlet mall. I always remember having a good time there, but that was prob almost 20 years ago.
