Acrophobia At Six Flags Over Georgia opens

At SFoG, Acrophobia, the stand up freefall tower, opened up to the public this past weekend. While it is not rotating, it is taking passengers up and dropping them. The reviews are correct, you stand with your feet dangling.

How does one enjoy a ride where you get a couple of G's to the crotch?

Stand with your feet dangling?! Ouch! It already sounds painful, but I guess that answers our question of whether or not a stand-up inverted is possible... In theory at least.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if your feet are dangling, you can't be standing. Can anyone descride the restraints?
The few who've rode it are reporting that the ride isn't as painful as it looks. Apparently since you're tilting a lot of the weight goes to your chest instead of all to the groin.
There are some pics of it before it opened during the testing stages on the front page of Thrillride. Just click the Achrophobia pics link and there are about 4 there.

Ok, I'd GUESS the seat isnt a "bike seat" such as on B&M stand-ups, but similiar to the "half-standing, half-sitting" seat arrow uses on X. Imagine a B&M floorless/sitdown seat, tilted 45 degrees with a strap to keep you in, and that's probably about right.
If it is a bike seat style, show me a pic! I can't imagine Intamin doing that.

I have heard comments from riders and one male rider even said it was possibly the most comfortable seating he had ever experienced. The ride sounds amazing.

Do you honestly believe that Intamin would have riders, male or female sit entirely on a bicycle seat? It isn't logical, and can't be like that.

Alright guys, heres the info. To make it quick:
I waited 8hrs on Saturday with a few Acers and some other guys. We watched them test all day. Around 6:17 p.m. the ride opened. They gave out these tickets that were numbered starting at 6000. I was the third rider, 6003 is what my ticket read. They do the tickets to prevent line jumpers so when you get up to the ride platform they assign you one of the two lanes and if your ticket numbers aren't in order they know you cut. Well to get to the point I was on the first public drop of Acrophobia. I was the third rider.
Heres how the seats work. They look like a normal Intamin giant drop seat cut in half. From the middle of the half seat there is a rectangular seat, similar to the B&M Stand-ups but smaller and it is a rectangle. It slopes down. The OTSRs are connected by the same seatbelt you will find on MF. What makes them different is that they are tightned instead of one set distance like B&M coasters and the other drop rides.
So basically you are sitting on your butt but you have a little thing that goes between your legs so that you don't fall out the bottom. But don't worry you have no weight where your worried about. Infact they are some of the coolest and most confortable seats on any ride I've been on. Well anyways when you get to the top the seats tilt out forward and it feels that your are parallel to the ground, but you really aren't. Then it drops and you are completly out of your seat the whole time. It is a wonderful and new experience watching the ground rise up at you instead of looking forward and just seeing rides and trees drop like other free falls. To get the full experience put your arms and legs out. Due to the exposure of the seats you feel like you are flying as your body isn't touch anything.
All in all it is now my favorite free fall. You are so exposed and it is the perfect height. It also seems to have a longer time of free fall then most of the other free falls, but that may be because the angle your dropping makes it seem that way. The only thing bad about Saturday was that they hadn't done all the safety checks for Acro to spin going up, so you went up to the top without the ring of seats rotating, but it still was great.
BTW I don't want to hear one more word about this ride hurting that area. I am a guy and the ride doesn't do one bit of damage. Not even when it comes to a stop.

I think the reason that the ride doesn't hurt is because you are leaning forward 15 degrees because of the tilt at the top. Therefore the pressure is forward into the shoulder harness not into the bike seat.
When I heard "Stand-up freefall" I wasn't at all thinking about what I'e seen of Acro... That isn't standing up, it's sitting on a seat. I was hoping it would be like Apocalypse, the Intamin stand-up tower at Drayton Manor in England. In that one, you actually stand on a platform. The platforms tilt out as you rise to the top, then drop you that way. It was absolutely terrifying. I'll hold judgement on Acro until I ride it, but I'm STILL hoping that someplace closer to me than England will build a true stand-up freefall like Apocalypse.
I waited 30 minutes on Sunday to ride, and linejumping was insane at SFoG!!! Especially on Acraphobia! More people jumped that line than any! I actually had a attedant tell me the policy was if the same person got in front of you 4 times, the op would ban that person from the ride, anyways, to that ride.....
I rode Power Tower Tuesday and that's a carasouel compared to that Intamin thing! I rode Acro one time, never again! It is comfortable, you are basically stading. You feel so far out from the tower that it's also like having nothing behind you, either. Titing you out at 15 degrees at the top made me loose it, I know it doesn't seem like much, but that ride is nothing but sheer fear, I'm glad it didn't rotate going up! I didn't know about that, anyways, thr ride comes down fast! 166 feet of airtime freefall in that situation is plenty enough! p_c_r though he was dead and was on his way to coaster heaven! The most uncomfortable thing about the ride is the grips on th restraint, when your hands get sweaty, you want something grippy to hold on to, you know, makes you feel a little more secure. Not to mention SFoG removed the airplanes, which were to me the scariest things in existence, and put in something worse! (come on Deja, you looked good, I can't wait for you!)
