about Gemini

Don't you people know all the steel at the Point is sinking? So after they all sink and the crowd of angry enthusiasses 'taer' down and burn MS that will leave Gemini as the tallest coaster at the Point.

Handslapping....Gemini and KW's Racer have it....other coasters *race*, but the simple act of slapping hands with people in the other train is, IMO, one of the simplest joys in all of coasterdom....

The ride itself, the capacity, headchoppers, airtime, finishing helices, its all great....but for me at least, it's all about the slaps...:)

S and m guy, eh?

Gemini is definatly a unique coaster. I would not be surprised if the ride could handle over 3,000PPH, because it is the most popular (attendance wise) coaster in the park, and the crew always seems to have trains in and out of there in the blink of an eye.

Arrow SHOULD make more coasters like Gemini. The onlt two I can think of that come close are Excaliber(VF) and Thunderation. (SDC)

It would be perfect for a small park that needs a good ride.

Some people here probably have a strong love for this coaster so I don't mean to offend anyone but I want to know, does anyone else experience pain on this ride? Sorry to say but this coaster knocks the wind out of me. It's fun with the hand slapping and all, but it's really rough on me. Also, in the helix at the end as it goes back in the station it has a strong jolt. Does anyone else have these problems or is it just me? I usually like really rough rides, I love Son of Beast, but this one I can barely breathe on. I really like this coaster and would like to be able to ride it more then once a visit.

Gemini is smooth as glass, I mean butter smooth, smoother then millie smooth except for heading into the intense helix.

Perhaps you sat over a bad wheel or something.

I have rode it 100's of times and have never noticed it being rough. Although I have heard the same complaint you have a number of times.

I have had some rough rides on the Gemini, usually third seat first car. But all in all it is a rather smooth ride. Especially for an Arrow.

I can understand the issue with the helix though. Last season i had the privilage to ride it early in the season and the little sign above the operators head was lit up. I believe it said something like "trims off when light is on" Anyone else know what i'm talking about? Well i had never seen it on until this day and the trims into the helix were off. The speed running into the helix was rather intense, especially compared to the element when trimmed. I didn't have any discomfort, but the wife did.

This from the guy who asked if *I* was an S&M guy...;)

Yup, when the light is on, you'll see me running to Gemini.

The helix can be rough but not painfully rough, but maybe I am not the person to compare rough with. I don't think Maggie is rough either and everyone else does. Anyway belive it or not I have noticed the helix is rougher when you take it with the trims, then without. It's really odd.

It is a very forceful helix no matter how you take it.

I'm so glad everyone likes Gemini so much, that always makes me happy. I notice everyone is saying it is a really smooth ride, and I have to agree. However, there are several seats that will give you a nasty ride if you don't lean forward a bit, and especially if you put your hands up. First off, in my experience, the blue side is definitely the rougher side. I have no idea why, it just is, and I wasn't the only one on the crew who felt this way. Also you will notice there are five cars with three rows of seats in each car. Avoid the third row at all costs. These are without a doubt the roughest seats, especially towards the back of the train. Everytime someone got off complaining about the roughness, I found they would always be the ones sitting in the third row of the car.

And Dave is right, Gemini theoretically has a capacity of nearly 3,400 riders per hour. This is when we run six trains. While we may not quite make it that high, I know for a fact that we almost always do atleast 3,000 per hour. The real task is getting people to move fast enough to fill the trains. People seem to like to wait on the stairs a lot, or take their time trying to plan out the trains so they can race, which is understandable.

It seems that a lot of people think that we don't run six trains very often, but to be honest, we ran all six trains on Saturdays in June, everyday in July, and the first three weeks of August. And when we run six trains, we HAVE to hurry otherwise our ride will shut down and it's a big mess. So if a Gemini ride op has ever seemed rude or they were rushing you, it's simply because we know people hate it when they've waited in line only to find out that the ride is shut down and won't be back up for another fifteen minutes, and we don't want to get yelled at for having another shut down.
