A very wet ride on the Matterhorn 4/17

This year we're rocking Disneyland passes and regularly book a cheap room at the Motel 6 Maingate for a late rise and short walk down to the Disneyland kennel before hitting up the park before it gets unbearably crowded, and this Sunday was one of our monthly trips.

This time around we headed up to Orange county on a Saturday and finally hit up Moosh's recommendation, Zankou Chicken. The chicken was wonderful, although I'll probably order dark meat only next time as the breast was just little bit dry. Boy was it tasty though. The garlic "mush" is the bomb. And compared to most places to eat in and around the park, fairly inexpensive. Definitely worth the short drive from where we were staying.

After getting hassled by Donald Duck for wearing mouse ears, we took a spin on some Fantasyland rides before a couple of laps on the Matterhorn. It was a blustery Santa Ana day here this past Sunday with the wind just pumping along at 9 in the morning. Unlike the chicken breast, the Matterhorn was very wet as it took us by surprise by darting directly through a waterfall that had been redirected by the wind. I've since read that they normally shut off the waterfalls in high wind, but I guess the early morning wind must have taken operations by surprise. In any case, it was a memorable ride, though we dried off in 5 minutes in the 91 degree heat. On a side note, they've added a little more cushion under the tailbone, making for a much more comfortable ride. Thank you Disney!

We also managed a couple of laps on Big Thunder and caught a couple of glimpses of the massive dirt rearranging going on for Star Wars Land. Man, do they really think they can complete this in 2 years? I can't wait.

After crossing over and catching a ride on California Screamin' with it's bumpy-a$$ loop, we rescued Skip and headed the nearly 100 miles back down to our home via the 5 (notice my use of the article "the" here), which was mercifully clear of traffic and got back in an hour twenty (it look us almost 4 hours coming back from Knott's a couple weeks back).
