A Unique Experience at Cedar Point

I was at CP on the 18th and 19th and on the 19th, I went to get on Snake River Falls. I was looking forward to getting wet, then waiting for MF. Well, we got in, and just after we left the station, we stopped for 15 minutes! We aited, then a park rep. came and walked us off. After, they gave us a ticket to go to the front of the line, even front row! Of course, all rides except MF. Anyone else have this happen to them?

"Millennium Force: The Future's Riding On It"
That's a "walkdown" - it happens to all the major rides a couple times each season. Usually what has happened is something is messed up with the computer and they can tell that it won't be fixed very quickly, so they want the riders to be taken off the ride, of course. It could also be a broken chain, burnt out lift-motor, or something to that effect as well. I've seen management give out the ride coupons, $5 worth of "Snoopy Bucks", and free small soda coupons, or give the riders the choice of which one they want.

Last year, my husband and I were waiting for Millennium Force first thing in the morning, and we waited about an hour (we were already in the queues, they'd walked us up partway), and the ride broke. So even though we weren't even on the ride yet, they gave us the $5. I thought it was really nice, since we weren't actually riding and everyone understands that these things happen.

The ride ops also came up and were talking with us. They said that "The Chain slipped off of one of the gear wheels". I don't know how accurate, but it was cool never the less.

My friend has had this happen to him twice on Iron Dragon. Now he's hesitant to go on it because the thinks that he's bad luck. :)

He said he was stuck on the lift for close to 45 minutes to an hour a couple years ago. He did get front of the line/ride passes though. (for the rest of the day)
I'm impressed. When I was stopped on the Beast at PKI, I didn't even get so much as an apology. I guess the Beast must break down alot.
Can't believe they didn't have that on the news...

That's great that they would give you something like that in apology for the ride breaking down on you. When I was at Universal last week, Spiderman, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future,... let's just say half their line-up broke down either while we were in the queue or even on the ride a couple times(how would you like walking back from the last lift hill before the big drop on Jurassic Park?). But they acted like this was the norm with everything and didn't offer any type of apology for breaking down. It was just "The ride is having technical problems. We have to delay our operations, but we don't know how long it will be. Please exit the line and visit one of our shows or operating attractions. Thank you." So, exit passes or any goodies like that aren't offered pretty much no matter what. Oh well.

Now when we broke down on Outer Limits last year. PKI gave us exit passes to any ride in the park. But we were on the ride. Usually, if you're still in the queue, they won't offer then. I'm not surprised about that either and wouldn't expect it.

PKI 2002- "The Roller Coast is Toast!"
I was stuck at the very top of the Magnum for about 1.5 hours a few years back, and I got didlly squat. I asked too, let me tell you walking down from that high was more intense then the ride itself.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?
