A Super-Intense Shuttle Loop!

Its a shame Kennywood got rid of their shuttle loop. It was a great ride, it did not take up much room, and it would still fill a void in their coaster lineup.
Thanks Cernelli, Beltzies, and Super7, I wasn't sure why this coaster was taken out because in my mind Shuttle Loops are excellent. Greased Lightnin' at PGA is a great coaster and I must have rode it 20 times when I went there.
Well, if they hadn't removed Laser Loop, they wouldn't have been able to install Steel Phantom. I'm sure a lot of you would have rather kept Laser Loop than get the Phantom, but, you know, Phantom's Revenge came out of Steel Phantom's remains... ;)

Theres a half picture of that on CobraRoll2k on the first page
Lynch, I understand why they removed the coaster and believe me I agree with it if it brought about coasters the like of Steel Phantom and Phantoms Revenge.

No shuttle loop should ever be removed.

Well hey, if you want 70% of all coasters to be Bomerangs than hey...

Ironically I was just reading a book during my lunch break called More Kennywood Memories. There is a section devoted the Laser Loop. The main reasons cited for removing the ride was Maintenance issue. It was continuously breaking down, and the parts were expensive since they had to be purchased from Germany. They had to replace a $14,000 clutch one month before they removed the ride.

Ouch! Well I think that was the same reason PKD sold their King Kobra, which was later bought by Alton Towers. My friend's parents used to work there when they had it and said it broke down alot.

wait, hold on. i just noticed something. rcdb is wrong, moonsault scramble isnt at nagashima...its at fujiku highlands. when looked at the first post i though the person who posted it was wrong. but rcdb is wrong. i checked asovini to make sure. i remembered because i new that fujiyama and moonsault were in the same park. oh well. and thats why the coaster wasnt on that site.

"I've heard rumors that the general public over there didn't like the ride anywhere. The Japanese aren't as daring as we Americans are. Well, at least that's what Nagashima Spaland's General Manager Yoshiki Takei said in an article about Steel Dragon 2000 in the most recent edition of RollerCoaster! magazine. I should add that it's a very interesting article that exposes why the damn thing cost so much.

Intresting you said that. I seen a tv show on japanese riders and man they are pretty strange. They never ever put there hands up. The rollercoasters they have they wan't them to be record breakers but they usually don't want the wildness and roughness of american coasters. It was a very intresting show. It is one of those things you hardley ever hear said.

I realy hate to complain here and I hope you dont mind me saying this, Jeff. But people, when are you ever going to learn how to properly use the quote feature. I see this all the time and it realy makes things hard to read. You place your comment after {/quote} {=[ for demo purposes. Maybe there should be a page with a walk through on how to do this. LOL Anywho...I hope I am not comming off mean. This just realy bugs and I had to say something.

What was King Kobra at PKD?
King Kobra was a Schwartzkopf shuttle loop, like White Lightnin' at Carowinds. Both featured more of the scaffolding type support on the loop like Revolution vs the solid support of the Laser Loop.

It was a shame that the Taft parks pulled these rides out also. They would still fit nicely into their current coaster lineup like Laser Loop would at Kennywood.

White Lightnin' was a beauty at night.
