A rant about no new coaster shows

Thanks for the heads up PKIDelerium,at first I didn't believe they'd put a show like that on NatGeo,but they are.
Does anyone without satellite/Digital Cable actually get the National Geographic Channel?

Not that I know off DS,if you don't have digital or satellite then I'm afraid you're SOL as far as being able to watch NATGEO or science channel.

NatGeo is channel 109 & science channel is 110 for me....too bad our system hasn't added travel channel yet though.

I have dish network's America's Choice 50 or whatever it's called, basically it's basic cable. I don't think I'll upgrade to watch a coaster show though.

"a shark geek, RV geek, home geek, car geek, hotel geek, travel geek, gardening geek, cooking geek, etc"

There is much more truth to this than most coaster enthusiasts will ever admit. RV, home, car, cooking etc geeks spend a lot more money that your average 16 year old with a season pass.

The ratings for retread coaster shows are pretty low (what's the copyright? Those Who Know ...)

When a American Chopper pulls in Top 10 Cable ratings and Coaster shows are close to zero cell (meaning no one in the close to 40,000 homes measured was watching) what do you expect?

The reason there are no new coaster shows is simple: the ratings stunk! If the ratings were good the channel would produce more, plain and simple.

DS as far as I know National geographic channel is a part of the basic cable lineup, the only premium channels we subscribe to are encore & it's related networks & HBO.
At 6pm EST on the Travel channel they had America's amusement park. It was an old one. I'd say from 1996 or 1997. It featured BGW and Drachen Fire, CP and Raptor & Magnum, Kennywood and the tallest fastest Steel Phantom, ;) and Knoebels Grove which was rated 2nd behind CP as the best amusement park.

I had seen it years ago, and never would thought that I'd have seen it again. I record all of those, but I never got to record that one. Rough or not I would have liked to have gotten a lap or 2 on Drachen Fire.

Well, I just watched the new show that was on The National Geographic Channel tonight. It was a really good show which showed how rides such as X, Oblivian, Power Tower and Dragster work. My favorite would have to be when they showed dragster. Ive never been to Cedar Point and missed the Extreme Rides 2003 on last fall, so I never got to see it in action. All the footage of how dragster works and how fast it looks when it launced was great.
Gee Hockey and Coaster on TV at the same time. Give me picture in picture. I think part of the reason there are no new shows is there isn't that many new coasters out this year.

Thanks,
DMC
