A question about Stark Raven Mad Event???

I just got my ACE flyer regarding Stark Raven Mad. From people who have been their in the past how is it??? Is it busy??? How many rides can you get in ???? Im from Milw, how long of a ride do you think it will be?? From the flyer it seems like a good 2 day event this year but was wondering what thoughts people have who have attended this before as i decide if i should go or not.
One word: GO. You won't regret it (ok that was five words!). Some of the flat rides will be going during the ERT nights, and everything should be up and running Saturday. Not to mention wonderful food and free drinks & parking! As for the drive, I do not know. HW is in the central "shoe sole" of IN, and about 6 hours from Chicago. It will be even busier this year thanks to word of mouth, and the wonderful addition of a second Legend train! :) In case you need more info, go to www.holidayworld.com/srm
Hope to see you there.

A little OT, but did anyone read the fine print at the bottom of the SRM flyer?  Fun stuff.

Bob - SRM is one of the two events [along with PPP] I will not miss each year.  But unlike PPP, which is a mix of enthusiasts and GP, SRM is all-enthusiast.  When you get all those good friends together to celebrate what we love there is just something in the air...a common vibe...a tangible electricity...a natural high!

The park treats you like family and they treat their coasters with a ton-o TLC, and it shows.  Once night falls Raven and Legend take on a life of their own, growing faster and faster out there in the dark Indiana woods.  I can't count the number of times I've thought "WOW...that just cannot get any faster!" only to ride again and feel that it WAS!  You'll get a work out, too.  You will leave the park with the most wonderful exhaustion you've ever felt...almost post-coital, if you know what I mean.

The park has a ton of charm, some great flat rides, and the friendliest employees you'll ever meet.  They actually have to bid to work SRM because they have as almost as much fun as we do!  You won't find any of the ops pushing down on your lap bar, either!  2 clicks?  You bet!

So if you've never been to Holiday World or SRM, come this year.  You won't be disappointed.

Matthew - who is not paid to say those things!

Joe, I did... that was one of the best(and funniest) flyers I have ever seen. After reading that, I think I might just have to go. Kudos to Holdiday World!

Last year was my first SRM, and I was completely blown away.  If I had to pick one event every year, this would be it.  Even over PPP!

Did anyone read the bottom of last year's flier? It was so funny I still remember it. Something about Alpo creme brulee and a dog. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to go to SRM. It' far away and nobody wants to go their for a day and come all the way back.
I didn't go to SRM, but I did go to another ERT event in mid summer. It was a great experience, The Raven is a lot better at night, but I think that The Legend totally blows it away.

...so Mamoosh, you don't consider an all-enthusiast, 33-state, dark-ride, HEADless, LIGHTless, BRAKEless flight on terrain CCIs, perfectly designed and flawlessly maintained, NOW with double the trains on Legend, PTCs I might add, AND double the nights, AND Zoombabwe!, payment ENOUGH...j/k, ROFL.  Seriously though, last year was our first SRM, and we were happy to be among the 33 states represented - won't be the last time...still gotta wonder who was there with the Alachua County plates though....kinda eerie...BOO!

I too did not go to SRM yet but my first one is this year.  I can't wait to go back to HW.  I had such a blast last year.  I did go to PPP last year.  Now that was alot of fun.  The most fun, well maybe the second best time i've ever had at a park... Greg... maybe thats where I also saw you... hmm... anyway.  POSSE!

Yes Jeremy, loriu and clan will be in tow.  I can't wait!!  This will be our first SRM and if it's half as fun as PPP last year, I'll be in heaven.  See you all there.
Nothing compares to SRM, absolutely nothing. I went for the first time last year and I never plan to miss it again so long as I still draw in breath :-)

The added bonus is that the park is located near several other parks (SFStL, IB, SFKK, PKI, Americana (Opening again this year!!!!!)) and thus it's easy to turn it into a nice looong weekend of coaster riding bliss.

You gotta get ther SFGA2001. It's incredible. Major things happen. Last year the announcement of Pat's cancer.
By the way, how's she doing? I haven't heard much recently.

Thanks for asking...

Mrs. Koch had a rough summer with all the chemo and radiation. In late July, she developed an infection and nearly died. Things were looking very bad.

On August 3rd (coincidentally the park's anniversary), she had the third part of her treatment--surgery. The next day, the surgeon told her she was "every surgeon's nightmare." Turns out when he opened her up, everything looked great--no cancer, no radiation burns, no scarring! The surgeon thought he'd made a mistake and had gone looking in the wrong part of her...

She had a marvelous month -- including her 70th birthday. Then, sadly, on September 17, her husband (whom she called "the love of my life") passed away at age 86. We miss him every day.

To look at her, you'd never know the challenges that 2001 brought. Her follow-up exam a few months ago got her an A+.

Miracles really do happen. :)

Have a great weekend!  Paula

Hearing that Pat is making a great recovery is WAY, WAY better than anything else the park could possibly announce.  I can't wait to see her at SRM ;-)
