A question About Kiddie Coasters

Is there some reason why on most of them they let a parent ride with a kid but not a kid ride alone. Is it because they want it to be a ride only for families or something. Not that I like kiddie coasters though:)

Safety is my guess....what operator (or parent) wants a young kid left unattended on something that they could hurt themselves on?

The only restriction I've seen, though, is older folks not being able to ride unless they ride with a kid...
