A question about crowds at Flordia Parks

I am going to be going to Universal Studios and IOA in early June. I have heard that is a good time to go because the schools in that area arent out of school yet. Is this true, or partly true? and for those of you that have been there during this time, is it a bad time crowd wise or what?

I live in Miami Beach, and the schools getout in the very beginning of June. It probably will be very crowded so just stay at Portofino or Hard Rock (Front of the line acces).

Summer is the busiest time of year in Florida (go figure, it is also at it's hottest and most miserable). IOA will be packed. Look forward to long long lines.

What do you mean by front of the line acces? and yea Kick the sky, I know summer is the busiest time of year and all that...thanks for the encouraging comment..

I live in FL, and schools can get out anytime from the last week of May through about the first week of June. However, I've never found the lines at IOA to be too insurmountable, especially since there aren't so many coasters. So if you have to wait a bit longer for them, what's the rush? Going mid-week, of course, would help to a certain extent, if that's possible for you.

I wouldn't stay at the Hard Rock, however, not for $200 or so a night. There are plenty of hotels you can get within 5 miles that are anywhere from $40 - $140 a night.

As for the weather, beware about 4pm - 6pm, there's likely to be a quick thunderstorm. But it will be over and mostly dry within an hour, and helps to cut down the crowds. Have fun!

Jason, let me be the cheery voice of encouragement: Early June is fine. Someone posted that schools let out in late May or early June. I have a half-dozen teachers in the family and can assure you that school has never gotten out in May. It is usually between the second and third week of June. It will be that way this year too.

So, if by early June you mean the first week in June, weekdays will be heaven. The second week should still be nice, though with a bit more of a crowd trickling in. After that, all bets are off though late June is still better than the month of July.

Either way, I can't stress this next point enough: Get there when the park opens at 9am. As far as IOA goes you will be able to do ALL of the thrill rides well before lunch and then be able to spend the afternoon absorbing the themed bliss before taking on re-rides before closing. USF is a much wider park so it's not as easy to get around and a lot of the attractions are time-consuming -- so, whether it's peak season or not there, you will be spending time there anyway.
