A PPP primer - the experience and the expectations

Rob's right. Everyone needs at least one PPP experience. I recommend spending all oph Saturday there, since it is hard to get a lot oph rides in during the actual event. Plus that will let you warm up on the Phlyers! Best around (outside PKI).

So bring a costume, and marshmallows phor the campphire. The group costume I had planned was shot to hell so I'm going alone. All I can say is that it will echo my screenname!

Honestly, I am excited to ride the coasters, as I have never been there, but the real excitement lies in seeing old friends, and inhaling that cold Pennsylvania air amidst all the turning foliage. :)

Matthew, I know. I was just curious what PPP means to others. I will certainly make my own memories! Just keep the Wild Turkey away from Brent. I don't need to see that again! ;)

Nasai - don't look at PPP as a coaster ERT event like SRM. In addition to the coasters you have lots of other rides available during ERT and I'd recommend making sure that -- at the very least -- you also ride the Haunted House, Whip, Dodgems, and Auto ride during the event. You'll probably get more rides on Phoenix and Twister during the day and on Sunday.

Thanks for the advice! I will check out all the flats. It's not like I get there all the time. :)

Make sure you wait it out for the car ride. It's really great.

Nasai - the trick is to ride the non-ERT attractions during the day and save those rides included in the event *for* the event!

I won't miss those flyers. er..... Phlyers. ;) I got really good at pseudo-snapping at PKI for my first shot at any flyer. I always thought they were for lame-o's. Boy, was I wrong.

For the PPP PPPros, I noticed they don't have a price on the site yet. How much does it usually cost? And can I assume you have to buy a seperate rideband for the daytime ride session saturday?

Last year it was $15.

As far as I could tell, last year before the ERT started, it was pay per ride (which still turns out to be quite cheap).

Gosh I have ALWAYS wanted to go to PPP! Sadly though I have never been able to get anyone to go with me and I don't want to go alone. But next year I am going to drag my boyfriend (kicking & screaming if I have to) and were going to PPP! I can't wait. Yeah I'm going to make him camp too so I don't think he will be the happiest camper but I know he will end up having the time of his life! YAY! so look for me Nathan and my BF Michael at PPP 2004!

THE SCARIEST PART OF THE RIDE IS THE LIFT HILL!
Yes, before the PPP event itself begins, the park is open on a pay-per-ride basis.

Another thing to keep in mind during the day is PPP coincides with the Covered Bridge Festival. The park and the area around it will be FAR more crowded than in the evening, but many of the people there won't be riding at all. They'll be checking out the art stands, food stands, and so on instead.

That said, I've only been going to PPP for 4 years, and I'VE seen the crowds for the event grow. That's ok, though. PPP is a magical event, where you can see old friends, meet new ones, feel the wonderful crisp fall air, smell the burning wood of the bonfire...

I just got the brochure, it is $15 again this year. A real steal as it includes pizza and a drink as well. And also, a thing to remember, you don't have to belong to a club to join in on the fun.
