A new spin on a "mostly dead" concept...

What type of coasters have been relegated to the scrap heap recently....

Suspendeds? Stand-ups? Both good answers. But how about "Super Saturators?" Both Caripro and Setpoint had models that functioned...but didn't seem to justify the high installation and operational costs given the maintenance and throughput. Emerald Pointe, Carowinds, Hard Rock Park (FMP), and Hershey haven't sold any of their rides, AFAIK.

So who comes along with an improvement to the concept? Yep, Vekoma.

Introducing Bandit Bomber, in Abu Dhabi, UAE. More water (geysers, waterfalls, water cannons) and laser guns that trigger water targets. Sounds like a lot of fun...of course, I was a fun of the original versions.

Nice station and I like the theming and how all 4 seats face forward.

Thanks,
DMC

Aside from capacity, I thought the original Setpoint versions were lots of fun. I don't understand why a multi-station design (2 or even 3 station blocks at a time) wasn't the default.

You'd think they'd avoid the "bomb" reference considering it's in the Middle East.

Except that I'd guess people in the Middle East don't get offended by words that aren't the least bit offensive like people do over here.

I think I would have gone with a more "front-middle/rear-wing" seat configuration like you see on the newer B&M hypers....would have given the rear-seat riders a much improved experience.

Even the word "offend" is offensive to some people in the U.S. lol

I've never ridden a Vekoma "Splash Party". What is the concept of it?

LostKause's avatar

I think it is a lot like a Lemon Party!

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I love how it interacts with other rides. This is how these types of rides should be used.

Looks gnarly. I cant get over how empty these parks in Abu Dhabi and Dubai look. Awesome rides, yet the native are like....meh...

Yes, because everyone in the Middle East is a terrorist. Just like all Americans bomb abortion clinics.

I fear for our country.

Or perhaps a closer comparison:
Afghan to other Afghan - "You'd think those people form the US would avoid talking about how their professors drone on and on given how many times they've bombed us with drones."

Wow. That looks like quite a project they have going on there. I like the snake heads at the end of the waterslides under the coaster. Obviously the coaster is just part of a much larger project. Looks like someplace that would be fun to visit, but didn't notice much in the way of shade, and I would bet that it gets very hot there.

I didn't do it! I swear!!

Vater's avatar

Nothing like mid-Timbers hot, though.

rollergator's avatar

Sure, it's hot, but it's a DRY heat... ;~P
