A new record for the Steel Phantom?

It never sucked to be Jim Raimar more than when it was still Steel Phantom. Not sure how many piercings he has total, but I seem to recall him taking them all out for a last ride on SP.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

But if blood flies into someone's face, it won't do anything unless the person behind them has a very open cut or wound because just normal contact can't do much.
Yes this is true but remember when something wet hit your face normally you would wipe it off with your hand. It only has to get into one small cut. So NO normal skin contact wont do much of anything but if you have a cut yeah you could get sick. And remember this is the Amusement Park Business and if anything wierd, freaky, nearly impossible, or never heard of is going to happen then it will happen at a Theme Park. Gosh how terrible would it be if Ed Markey got ahold of that info. I can see it now. ROLLER COASTERS SPREADING DISEASE ACROSS THE NATION! LoL Not likely but gosh not likely is what always happens at parks.

I have never been asked to take off my earrings and I rode Phantom's Revenge last year and a couple of other coasters (I cannot remember the names of) that had signs saying "All earrings must be removed"

They don't make you remove them for Phantom's Revenge, but when it was Steel Phantom they did and it's a good thing too. Not only were there signs but they continuely announced that earrings had to be removed. If that doesn't tell you you are in for a world of hurt...

If the sign is still there (I've never noticed it , but I haven't actually looked for it either), I think it's just something they overlooked and haven't removed yet.

I know for sure they make you remove your earrings before riding Batman The Escape at SFAW. That almost made me want to pass up on riding...

The "remove all earrings" sign should be a good clue that you're in for a world of headbanging....and NOT the good kind...;)

bill, wondering how Jeff knows that those were *all* of Jim's piercings...j/k...:)

Would you just LOOK at what's happened to C'buzz NOW...

I really do not see the danger of wearing them. Heck I've ridden TTD and they didn't get ripped from my ears, so I think I'm safe on any other coaster.

Okay, Steel Phantom had OTSR's, Phantoms Revenge does not. So of course you dont need to remove them on Phantoms revenge, what are they going to bump into? Same with Dragster. Steel Phantom on the other hand, banged your head into the sides of the restraints quite viliontley, especially on the second half of the ride. Im now quite certain they actually MADE you take them off. I loved Steel Phantom, but I was almost never up to a re-ride because of the Headache I had when I got off, and Im not one to complain about a ride being rough, but Steel Phantom had to be the roughest ride on the planet.

Track Record: 62 coasters at 17 parks.

When Mr. Freeze had the OTSR's they enforced that rule.

SFMM has enforced that rule on Viper since opening day of the ride.

A random Mooshter's Dawntionary listing: Reintarnation [n.] Coming back to life as a hillbilly.

They made me take out all 11 of mine the one day! At the time I had the kind in that did not have the little balls to take off and they weren't hinged. You had to actually bend them to get them off. I hurt my ears more removing them than the Phantom did.

Signature will be closed today. Sorry for the inconveinance.

Well here's the coasters I know that still enforce the no earrings rule:
Zoomerang - Lake Compounce
GASM - SFGadv
Viper - SFMM

anyone got any other currently operational coasters with this rule?

I know that Shockwave at SFGam used to as well.

As previously mentioned, SFGAdv was very agressive about removing earrings on The Chiller when it had OTSRs. There were signs, announcements, and operator inspections. I personally witnessed why when a lady snuck in her earrings hidden under her hair. She left the ride bleeding considerably and obviously in pain.

You know seriously...If there is a warning, people *should* pay attention to it, but the parks shouldnt *make* people remove their earrings.

Thats like saying parks shouldn't enforce line jumping rules, or rules about going into lockout tagout areas.

Ride op to GP "Well, you're not supposed to walk in that area where Batman: The ride hits the lowest point because you may get hit in the head by a foot and killed, but we don't really enforce that, so I told you, and if you do it, I can't enforce it..."

Yeah, I don't think so.

What I find strange is the difference between parks with this rule. For example, SFMM and SFMW. At Magic they were very strict with the rule, but at Marine World they couldn't care less. It is weird that on Kong and Zonga they don't care, when on Viper (a lot less rough in comparison) they overkill the rule. Interesting.

I think the launch/OTSR combination created several rides with this rule...Joker's Jinx had the rule posted, not sure of their enforcement....thankfully, the Premiers now have almost all the OTSRs gone (save for Speed:TR), and I think the rules re: earrings left with the OTSRs....:):)

WoodenCyclone- How would your face being red after a ride cause an eyebrow piercing to get infected?

This was a rule that was definately enforced. I would have no concept of the pain that would be caused by headbanging with earings on that ride. I had many decent rides on it, but a few rough ones. However, if you had multiple piercings to remove, then that probably would be much more painful than riding. It is interesting to hear that this was not the only coaster to have that rule.
I work there I live there, that ride I miss, especially when people don't remove earrings and then cry about it later.
