A new idea for a coaster...

Hey y'all! I think this would be a good idea for a new coaster, or for maybe just sprucing up an old one. I think it would be cool if someone made coaster trains that face sideways! There could be a row that face to the left and one to the right. So you would ride sideways, and on overbanked turns and stuff, you would either face up at the sky, or down towards the ground! (depending on which side you sit on) I tried it in UltraCoaster, and I think it is cool! Let me know what you think about it! Thanks!
That is an excellent idea. They sorta are going to be doing that on X at SFMM, but yours would truly be unique!!

Well, based on ride dynamics, it could be a challenge given the force of negative, and positive Gs on you as you move side to side.  I don't know if we would ever see it....  If you think about a leg, for example....  You can stand up on it and put a tremendous amount of downward force on it, perhaps up to 700 lbs, but sideways it would break at about 100 lbs.  I would imagine this is why coasters may never be built like this.  I would like to see someone try, though :)

That is a good idea.  I have seen pictures of old coasters from the 1920's that had trains where you sit sideways.  Looks fun!

There would be considerable problems with the dynamics especially lateral forces.  Most of the old coasters that had sideways seating were scenic railways and had almost no dynamic forces.
its called a sezmik, its by setpoint

Wrong... Setpoint's Seizmic coasters don't actually face sideways. They're set on the outside of the track, yes, but you're not faced outwards.

That would be pretty cool, I hope they figure out a way to do it.

There have been a few that have come up with this idea after I posted it.

I call it Project: Battery.
