Looks just like the one at Carowinds once inside. A real winner here.

Thanx for the pics Shaggy

Coming in 2003-The Spawn Of Magnum!

Thanks for the pics Shaggy! This ride seems to really be shaping up quickly. As much as I loved Phantom Theater, I look at this and see that it was time for change- they are doing a great job. Also kudos to them turning the 'doom buggies' into mystery machines- I'm glad they could re-use alot of the former ride.

You lucky creep. Great pictures. How many blasters are there per car? Are the little yellow squares I see all over the place going to be the censors that we'll be aiming at? They had some great looking art in it. Is the Shaggy playing the pipe organ the same animatronic model as the maestro that was in the lobby of Phantom Theater? If so, are there any other models that just changed skins? The Mummy looks familiar, though with new wraps and a neon flare.

(this is posted here and elsewhere for you Shaggy. Didn't know which site you check more often.)

Nobody tosses a dwarf...

Thanks.

All the props and scenery are brand new. Nothing was re-used. As a matter of fact, while I was there, painters were busy painting over the hallway that housed the busts that followed you as you passed by (just prior to getting to the loading station to board.)

It was funny because the Sally folks kept flicking the lights off and on to check the blacklights so the whole time we were there, things went from bright to neon, bright to neon, bright to neon.

They still had a bunch to do, like hanging background drapes and scenic drops. They also decided during the time we were there that the blacklights suspended from the ceiling needed to be raised higher and more out of view.

The little squares you see are indeed the targets... and there are hundreds of them! You get more points if you hit a "Scooby Snack" box. Those are placed at various points along the ride. The targets will have little blue lights that glow and that is what you aim for. Each car has three guns... or fright lights.... or ghost zappers... or whatever the heck they are calling them ;-)

The interior of the building will be finished perhaps by the end of the month. The exterior... which is extremely elaborate (They had the model on hand, and words cannot explain how cool the entrance to this thing will be!) will not be done for some time. You can kinda tell by the first picture, that they are busy pouring the concrete for the bridge to the front entrance. My hat is off to the guys busy working on it, the outside temperatures and snow made for some brutal work last week.

FYI, I'll reply to this elsewhere as well.

Shaggy

Thanks for posting these John! Now I don't have to grab some stills from video. =:^)

Sure you do! I'll post others from around the park later. Mine turned out pretty good!

Phantom Theater 1992-2002

Will this new ride have animatronic figures, like Phantom Theater did? From all the pictures I've seen so far, it doesn't look like there are any animatronics, but that could just be because they haven't gotten them in yet.

Great pictures! One question about the ride though, do you know if the speed will be slow like BL at WDW or faster like MIB:AA at USO?
I don't recall if their were any animotronics on Carowinds version. Maybe a couple.

Sean, when are you putting the video online???? ;)

A one that is not cold, is hardly a one at all.

Well, here's another question. I know it's off topic, but I don't think a new thread is needed. When Phantom Theater was planned for 1992, was that headed by Paramount or the company that orignally owned Kings Island? I know that this was the case for Top Gun, and Paramount continued the project, so this is the case for Phantom Theater?

No video. =:^(

Actually, the images don't look horrible when viewed on my TV, but online they would probably look pretty muddy.

Punkrocker,

The speed with be faster than PT, but probably not as quick as MIB.

Coasterkrazy,

If I am not mistaken, I did hear that this new ride will have more moving parts than what PT did. There certainly was a lost of 'surprises' that had moving parts.
