A little game...

Let's play a track record game...

Go to either rcdb or coasterbuzz and hit 'reload', seeing how many of the random coaster photos that come up are on your track record. Coasterbuzz's gives me higher scores as it tends to focus on domestic coasters more.
For this game, let's see how many you've ridden out of 10 consecutive reloads.

Here's the scoring system-

5 points if you've ridden it and it's now defunct

4 points if you've ridden it

2 points if you've ridden an EXACT clone (Must be same manufacturer/same production model for steel coasters or EXACT same layout for wood... Hurlers or Roars would count, for example, but if it's a Reverchon spinning mouse and you've only ridden a Mack Wild, that wouldn't count. Give the manufacturer name/model, and the name of the clone you've ridden and the park it was in. Go to RCDB for help in figuring this out) You can still get points for as many clones as you've ridden even if you've ridden the one that comes up.

1 point if you've SEEN the coaster but not ridden, or if you've been to the park it's in but it wasn't there yet/was defunct when you were. You can still score this point if you got the 2 points for riding a clone but only saw the actual coaster that comes up.

You can keep re-trying to get your highest possible score, but your score must come from a continuous set of 10 hits.

Here's a sample score card, which represents my best score yet (From CoasterBuzz). Notice I don't list the names of the rides I don't get points for... so #'s 3, 6, and 10 I left out.

#1-Alpengeist : Ridden : 4 points
#2-Woodstock Express : Seen it : 1 point
#4-Shockwave, SFGam : Ridden, Defunct : 5 points
#5-Iron Dragon : Ridden : 4 points
#7-Pedro's Wild Mouse, L&T Systems 30x20 : Ridden clone, Muskrat Scramble at SFNO : 2 points
#8-Iron Dragon : Ridden : 4 points
#9 - Viper, SFOG : Ridden, Defunct : 5 points
Schwarzkopf shuttle loop
also ridden King Kobra at PKD, 2 more points
TOTAL:27 points
now have fun, and be honest!

Hmph. Well I just did 10 on rcdb.com and didn't get any points at all.

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.

Yeah, rcdb makes it real tough. Coasterbuzz is much easier to get hits on.
Here's the best I can do on RCDB
#1-Batman SFSL : Ridden : 4 points
also ridden SFOG and SFGam : 4 more
#2-Ultra Twister, Nagashima Spaland : Ridden : 4 points
#3 Blue Streak, CP : 4 points
#4 Batwing, SFA : Been there before its time : 1 point
#6 Superman, SFOG : see above : 1 point
#8 Pternadon Flyers : Dang height rules : 1 point
#10 Manhattan Express : Nice view from the airport : 1 point
TOTAL : 20 points

Do I get bonus points if it's my photo that comes up? :)

Just tried one here at CB:

1. Serial Thriller (SFWOA) - 4 points
2. Phantom's Revenge - 4 Points (my photo)
3. Screeching Eagle - 0 Points
4. Screechin Eagle - 0 Points
5. Corkscrew (CP) - 4 Points
6. Grizzly (PKD) - 0 Points
7. Deja Vu (SFGAm) - 0 Points (I've seen the other two, but did not ride)
8. Big Apple - 1 Point (my photo again)
9. X - 4 Points
10. Woodstock Express (CP) - 4 Points

Total: 21 Points

I doubt Jeff wants people reloading the page over and over and over - seems like a potential bandwidth issue. I may be wrong though.

Using rcdb: 12 points [1 ridden, 3 clones, 1 seen]

Coasterbuzz: 27 points [4 ridden, 1 defunct ridden, 3 clones]

OK, question. How many points do I get if I've ridden the exact coaster, but when it was at another park?

I got Viper from SFoG, and haven't ridden it there, but did ride it as Tidal Wave at SFGAm.

Look at Dawn...opening up a can-o-worms. IMHO since its physically the exact same coaster and it is not defunct you'd count it as 4 points.

Hmm.. I'd say you'd get 3 points for that, since it's one better than a clone but still not the actual installation.
I'd say if you'd ridden the exact same coaster in more than one place you'd deserve the riding points plus some kind of bonus... say and extra 3 points... so if you'd ridden it at SFGam and SFOG you'd get 5 for SFOG (defunct), 3 for SFGam and a 3 point bonus.
I have to make everything so dang complicated :}
Man, do I stink at this one....

I just ran it here on CBuzz and only got 10 points!

Picked up 14 on rcdb. (I'm presuming mirrors count as clones)

Picked up 20 on CBuzz, and even without riding Raven or Legend (both of which came up).

I usually just play a game when I'm bored where I hit reload and try to name the coaster from the pic without peeking. Some are pretty easy but some are actually quite interesting.

So if you've seen the coaster and ridden a clone, you get 3 points?

Yeah, but your way of counting is dumb. ;)

I'm smart enough to live in a part of the country where I can ride a coaster 365 days a year....

Damn, I wish I could ride Psyclone all the time, too.
Okay, round 2 on CBuzz and I still only get 18! Yeeeccchhh!!!;)

One thing I did notice was that in both of my runs here, I got double-ups at more than one park....

Round 1
Batman:KF and Villain @ SFWoA
and
Mad Mouse and Shivering Timbers @ MA

Round 2
Viper, X, and Riddler's Revenge @ SFMM
and
Mine Ride and Raptor @ CP

Anyone else see this???

I did it a couple times, as well, and got a few coaster and park repeats.
Round 3

OK, now I really suck! That's right, a big-fat goose egg - 0 - here on CBuzz. And here I thought I had a decent track record! (Sniff, sniff)

BTW, double-doubles again...

S:ROS and Predator @ SFDL
and
Talon, Laser, and Wild Mouse @ DP

Ahhhh.....what a way to blow a lunch hour :):):)

I like to play a similar game with RCDB...usually when it's really late, and I'm trying to think of any excuse to avoid going to bed! I click on random coaster over and over again until I come across three in a row that I've ridden.

I may sound stupid but, where on Cbuzz are the random coaster photos?

rod,
on the main page there's a 'Roller Coaster Photos' box that brings up a random pic from the database every time you reload the page.
