A few Random Carowinds ?'s

Hey guys, I'm going to Carowinds this friday for the first time in 3 years( I REALLY need my Top Gun Fix) and am looking forward to Runaway Reptar, my first ride on a Vekoma Family suspended. I got a few questions though:

I can't find the at the gate price to get in. All that their website has is presale tickets. What is the normal cost? Also, what promos are running to get me into the park cheaper?(i.e. coke cans, coupons, etc...)

Is Flying Super Saturator open this early in the year? I'd love to ride this, since it would be another first, but I didn't know if it was up and running.

How have the crowds been? Is school still in for NC? I'm hoping it's not that busy since its a weekday(even friday) and only open to 6pm.

Hows the weather in NC been?

Hope you can help, thanx in advance!

I think tix are $42.99 - it's usually $5 more than the website price, but they add on a $5 service fee on the website so it ends up being the same. Not sure what the deals are - I'll watch out for commercials. I'd check with Wendy's and Bojangles, one usually has a coupon - and there's often something on Coke cans as well. On a related note, parking is now $8.

Saturator is running, but it's iffy as to whether the water effects will all be on or not. This past Sunday, early in the day when it was a bit cool and cloudy - they had all the effects on, and nobody was riding. Later in the day they had the effects off, although it had warmed up a bit. Didn't see anyone drop water bombs at any point, so not sure if they've started loading those yet.

School is still in for at least the rest of this month - BUT last year on these 9am-6pm Fridays they usually had LOTS of kids there on school field trips. It'll look like it'll be dead when you see not too many cars in the parking lot, but then you'll see lots of buses. It won't be Saturday busy, but it'll be more than a summer weekday - and most of the crowd is teenagers.

The weather has been typical springlike - 70's to 80's for highs, with a good chance of random afternoon thunderstorms. Had a few pretty bad t-storms last week that just brewed up outta nowhere. Forecast for Friday looks about the same, and the storms usually don't come til late if they do, so you'd probably get in a full day.

Not a bad day to visit, but not the empty park you might expect on a weekday either.

Top Gun is running VERY well, and they just retracked Hurler so it's back to it's old self delivering lots of airtime - so you should have a great time. Most everything else is running well too.

That page says $41.99 to get in, but $10 off if you order over the net. I found it by clicking the "tickets" link in the sites header image. Deceptively simple, huh? ;)

As for the other questions, it seems they were answered quite well in the post above this one - plus I know nothing about the park or area :)

Yes, Super Saturator is open and when I rode about 2 weeks ago, all the effects were on. All the rides are running well, except Hurler was a little slow, it should have gotten better by now, just wearing in the track I guess. Schools are still in until June 10th (at least Char-Meck schools are), and the weather should be in the 80's all this week with the chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoons, as previously stated.

yeah, actually i checked there, and all i saw was the internet presale price, didn't see anything bout the reg. price, but i am almost blind, so that's no suprise:)

thanx guys, I've been there before on school field trips, so that was about what I'm expecting, but usually I was there during math, science, and physics week, which is not now, so i hope not to have too many young ones there, but who knows. Glad to hear bout Top Gun, my fav. inverted, and I'm glad Hurler is retracked cause that is one coaster that causes me to feel the pain, though do like it, and since there is never a line, I usually get to power ride it.

thanx again!

TeknoScorpion, Runaway Reptar is very well themed IMO as well as the whole Nickelodeon section. The ride itself though, I found to be quite rough. But then again, I rode it on opening day and maybe they have done some work on it since then. There's a new Carolina Boardwalk section which is where Ricochet is, 7th Portal has come and gone, and the Whirling Dervish is gone. Oh and the north gate area has had a makeover.

The Reptar at PKI was infinitely smoother IMO....couldn't *believe* how much banging there was on the PCar ride. I'd guess that PCar is trying to scare the little ones away from inverted coasters to keep the lines shorter for Top Gun...;)

bill, got a ride on the DRY Super Saturator...it was an ironic credit...

Wendy's is running a promo, if you go buy a large frosty there is a coupon on the cup for 15$ off admission. Its a great deal
Hey PCarowinds, will u be there on Friday? i'll be in the park all day, will be hitting the Vortex at some point, would love to meet a fellow Cbuzzer!

Glad to hear bout the wendy's deal, is there one close by the park? I can't wait to see what's changed since last time. Thankfully I got to do 7th Portal last year @ PKD, so that's not missing anything, but I'm excited to see the enterance, Nic Central, and the Bordwalk.

Thanx for the responses!

There is a Wendy's right in front of the park look behind the Exxon.

Another thing the back gate is no longer general admission. It's now a season pass holder only gate. So you won't be able to walk in under Top Gun

I was at a Bojangles yesterday, and saw where they had Carowinds coupons as well. Didn't grab any, so I'm not sure as to how much their worth. Usually 4-5 dollars off on weekends, and 8-10 dollars off during the week.
Wow, thanx guys. hey Pcarowinds, i'll check this 2morrow nite, but if you are working Vortex Friday, I'll be in a White Tshirt with a red and black "Rusty" logo, cargo cut off shorts w/Camo Stripes down the side, and a Visor (D C shoes visor) so hollar at me if u see me, i'll be with my friend jon, and we'll be there all day.

Glad to hear there is a wendy's close, and i'll stop by bojangles too. Thanx guys!!
