Hi, I have been thinking of making a trip to a park near christmas time. I don't have the cash this year to make a trip to say California or Florida. I will be in or around Southern Illinois for most of Dcember and January. That being said I have noticed that both Dollywood and Silver Dollar City are open until late December. Does anyone have a suggestion on which one to go to? I have never been to either and there are not many park reviews for them. Is Tennessee Tornado enough of a reason to hit Dollywood?
Silver Dollar City is a better choice for the winter, because they have more coasters.
I would wait until Spring to hit Dollywood, when all the water rides are open, to make your visit more worth the money

I can't say enough about this ride (just ask the hundreds of people that have spent long hours listening to me babble.....it's either TT or Matterhorn! LOL). I agree with the previous suggestions though, as there is much more to Dollywood than this coaster. You can easily get your money's worth on TT alone, but I recommend going when you can ride the flats, careen through Blazing Fury, and brave the dangers that lurk on the steam train ride (one of the best I might add).

Model coasters and rides
Brad,
How did I know you woulda beaten me to this..... Oh well. Go with SDC. Even though the coasters aren't gonna be open, it has more to offer in the winter IMO.
Do not go to Dollywood! I'm warning you! This has got to be one of the worst parks I've ever been to. It has one lousy roller coaster, which is 100% not worth it. All the other rides and attractions there are kid-related too, if you're seeking for more of a thrill. But if you must go to the Tennessee area, visit Pidgeon Forge (The strip Dllywood is located on.) They have a bunch of fun rides there, like endless Go-Kart tracks, sky flyers, sling shots, huge arcades, and indoor sky diving. Also, another good place around there is Gatlinburg - tons of mini-theme parks and highly themed mini golf courses. And in the town they have a very nice Hard Rock, aquarium, and fun houses.
Edit: They have some great hiking trails in the Gatlinburg area too, if you plan on staying there for more than a day.
