A ? about Viper at SFGAm

I have a question that I cannot find the answer to. Who Built Viper at SFGAm, I have been wanting to know this for a very long time. Its very well built and I want to know who built it, so if you know tell me.
According to the CBuzz coaster directory and the Six Flags website, it was developed in-house.

The information that I found that it was an in house (meaning SF designed it) design according to http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatamerica/rides/viper.html. I noticed it does have 3 bench PTC trains on it but the builder is still unkonwn.

"I'm so excited - It's an Arrow ride!"

According to ACE's Guide to Ride book it was built by Delmas Sevier, Six Flags, & Dennis Starkey. It also runs PTC trains (five 6-seat cars).

Isnt it also simply a mirrored clone of the Coney Island Cyclone?

...I thought I heard that somewhere....

A great ride, regardless.

It is *almost* a morror image .. While it was probably based on the Cyclone, it's not exact (ie: there's the double dip .. and I think the turns are slightly more banked).

It is easily the best ride in the park.

Or the "hostyl" spin on it...

"It is easily the (third) best ride in the park".

Based solely on rides this year... :)

The only ride there I could *imagine* putting ahead of Viper would've been V2....

bill, who got Bull the day AFTER he was neutered, and isn't overly impressed by the DVs. Eagle was good, and I personally really enjoyed Spacely and Whizzer....could jeremy possibly be referring to Demon?

RGW: You were "neutered"? How did you let Jill talk you into THAT one?
lata, jeremy

Hostyl -- "Sadly" more thrilled by DV than Viper? Viper is a very good ride -- that's a good comment about DV.

And gator, that must've been a tough decision. Hopefully it's worked out for the best.

All the Cyclone based coasters are slightly different and none are really clones.

Viper was built in In House and it one of the most amazing coasters I have ever rode. I think I left my balls on the double dip, I have to go back and get them ;)

Thats not what happened to you is it Bill? LOL Just kidding.

I've been "neutered" for awhile....best $5 I ever spent....:).

But we were talking about Bull here, weren't we? Heard so many good things about it, got there on a *relatively* empty day, rode and rode, only hyper more disappointing IMO was SF at Dorney. There's got to be SOME reason Bull Fan lists that overbraked Piece of *Steel* as his fifth-best ride in the park, no?

bill, saying the best part of riding DV at GAm was *hoping* we'd valley....

Viper used to be a "very" good ride. The rides I got this year were just slightly above average. Nothing like the suburb rides of 2000.

Uh, rollergator, we're talking about Viper here. The Bull fan club is currently meeting in the thead "Raging Bull and it's Return to Glory."

What two rides are better than Viper? Well, I only know of one: Batman. Sorry, but I'm a sucker for this ride. The wild, non-stop intensity, coupled with the feeling of flight, just get me every time. I know, I know, after saying that, I shouldn't be saying this: But V2 is too short to top Viper. And Deja Vu had too many problems. And lets not even go near Raging Bull...

*(Ducks, as he realizes he's just said that everyone else's favorite ride in this park is inferior to what most people consider a clone, even though it's not)*

Last time I checked a suburb was a housing division for middle class americans.

Well Sanders, technically he is right. All of the rides at SFGAm are suburb rides. Gurnee is a suburb of Chicago. :)

2 superheroes in Gurnee next season? Oh the humanity. :)

Have you ever been to Robbins? I wouldnt exactly call that "middle class" yet it is a suburb.

I thoroughly enjoyed my only ride on Viper in August, and wished I'd had the time to ride it several more times. My hubby was on the other side of the park where my son was riding V2, and didn't get a ride on Viper. Hopefully next year he will. I consider him regular GP since he's not exactly an "enthusiast" (although I'm working on him), so I value his non-judgemental opinion.

BTW, we BOTH loved Raging Bull immensely. We were getting major pops of airtime riding in the back of the most COMFORTABLE coaster we'd ever been on.
