700 ft Coaster?

Hey hey, I edited Arrow's video for IAAPA this year, and one of the segments was the drop coaster. I put all the video segments online, you can see em at the link below

Wow, that ride looks absoloutly amazing... Quite possibly the ultimate shuttle coaster. What I find hard to fathom is how a zoning ordinance can prohibit something like this, but not a giant pyramid, a (presumably noisy) fight between a frigate and a pirate ship, several strip joints, and various other insane things found on or near The Strip.

EDIT- Oh, my God! I just read that thread you pointed out, CoastsPlaya, and it was hysterical! I wonder if this E Stop guy has ever heard of a little thing called the Space Program, which dealt with heights and forces FAR greater than we're talking about...

I know this is kind of on the opposing side - but a huge 700 ft. fish-hook coaster down the side of the Stratosphere would look kind of unsightly. I mean, Las Vegas is an awesome city to look at. On one side you have the Statue of Liberty, then practically right next to that is a huge black shiny pyramid, and then around the corner you see the Eiffel Tower! And then from practically everywhere in the city you can spot the huge Stratosphere tower. Altogether, this makes one of the most unique and interesting cities. But, seeing a huge roller coaster coming rolling off the side of the Stratosphere into a fish-hook not only decreases the balance of the city but ruins the symmetry of one of the best Las Vegas monuments!

Don't get me wrong - a 700 ft. fish-hook coaster would be freaken awesome, but I have to say - It would look kind of unsightly in the city just popping up like that.

#1: Riddler's Revenge
#2: Mantis
#3: Georgia Scorcher

It does pretty much ruin any symmetry that the tower has (had). Just like the big box attached to side of Luxor ruined the symmetry of the pyramid.

But really, in a city as hideous as Las Vegas, would such a ride really detract from the asthetics?

Thank you CoastaPlaya for giving me a good laugh. I seriously feel sorry for E-Stop 2 that he was that confident in his knowledge. Anyway, if you look at the video, it doesn't look as bad as I imagined it could be.

I talked with the Dippin' Dots guy and he assured me that Cedar Point was to get that 10-inversion terra-woodie-invert-stand-up because Magnum is sinking. The current construction is for the new super-Dippin' Dots stall he is to run.

Some of the most fun I've had on CBuzz is digging up old rumor threads and seeing what people had to say. I can't wait 'til CP announces to dig up all the rumor threads on that one, although I do think it will meet quite a few expectations.

IOA Pics: Great work on the videos. Remind me of Iain's, which is a big complement. Is the 2nd part of the X video available?

Arrow is the most innovative (and I said innovative) coaster company there is. Anyone who's ridden X knows that. We're talking true innovation.

And look where innovation got them. Pff! Innovation? Riiighhhtt...

SOOperGIR: How can you say that about Arrow? They had more "firsts-of-a-kind" than any other company. First modern inversion, first hyper, first suspended, the list goes on. Just because the 4D set them back a few notches doesn't mean they are out of the biz. Give props where props are due.

Not to mention they've done 'bankrupt' before--even 'part of another company' before. Can anyone say Arrow Huss?

You also have to keep in mind that Six Flags has done bankrupt before, too....only as Trieco before they were Premier before they were Six Flags Inc. So their current state hardly means they're washed up or gone.
