650 foot Poler Coaster in Vegas?

And is the coaster itself 600 feet in the air or are they counting the observation level and the spire in that total? Its all show business in Vegas, folks.

So what if it doesn't go 160 miles per hour with a 650 foot drop? It still looks like a fun ride. It might get pretty fast by the time it gets near the bottom of the tower.

Na. It'll probably be trimmed the whole way so its just a nice leisurely ride down.

If they renamed it (and added a little theming) the Stripper-Poler-Coaster it would do just fine in Vegas.

They should just build a 650ft drop tower that looks like a stripper pole! It should fit right in with the gondola bouncing up and down on it!

High Roller was technically the worlds tallest coaster and it sucked.

It was the highest (from grade), not the tallest. It was not tall at all. RCDB doesn't list how tall the ride was. But, based on photos, I would say it wasn't much more than 30' tall. That being said, it was 909' above street level and about 3,090' above sea level.

I just got to ride the highest coaster in the world. It opened this year. The Cliff Hanger in Glenwood Springs sits on the side of Iron Mountain. It sits 1,450' above the river below and is about 7,100' above sea level. And although it's the highest coaster in the world. It's only 60' tall.

The Polar Coaster would be the tallest coaster in the world. But, it would be far from the highest.

It had a thousand foot tall support. It was the tallest. It sucked because it was basically a roller skater. YMMV.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. But, in my opinion the height of a coaster is determined by the change in elevation from the track at the bottom of the first hill to the track at the top of the first hill.

I could put on a pair of platform shoes. But, that doesn't make me taller. It just makes me higher.

EDIT: An addendum to my previous post. Cliffhanger is only the highest in North America. I'm not sure what or where the highest in the world is.

Actually, it was a Dragon Wagon. :-) sorry, Mr. Vater...

One that scared the s out of me anyway, cause it was so damn tall. Er... high.

I got up there and freaked out immediately, like, "why am I doing this?" I had bought the rather expensive unlimited ride ticket at the base thinking it would be a good idea. I rode X-Scream first, big mistake. Most frightening ride ever for me, then it was one and done for the other two rides and I was on my way back down. The weekend we were there they helicoptered that face down circular swing thing to the top. Everybody on the strip stopped what they were doing to watch it. That's a ride I'm not sorry I missed.
