We left Pennsylvania Friday morning and met up with our friends in Richmond, VA. We drove to almost Lexington, KY the first day and got a room for the night. The next morning we finally got to our first park Holiday World! We showed our ACE cards at the enterance and got in for half price. Our first ride was on the Legend. It was running sluggish around the double helix early in the day but was a FANTASTIC ride. Later in the day we got rain and it wet down the track to speed up the slow areas. The Legend has a great first drop (as you get air it turns to the left and sets you down to the right in the car). This has everything a woodie should have lots of air, strong laterals, big drops, and tunnels 4 to be exact. The Raven is another great ride as well. It to has great laterals, air, and tunnel. I love the drop that feels like a carpet was pulled from under you. the staff at Holiday World were the greatest I've ever seen. They are super friendly and polite.While waiting in line they ask you if they can hold your items while you ride. I believe this was the cleanest park I was ever too. They are even giving away free soft drinks this season too. They have stands where you can go in and servre yourself. Later in the day the power was knocked off for about 2 hours. Durring the outage we decided if SOB was going to run we'd head to PKI instead of KK for the day.
After we got to the hotel we called the PKI 800# and it said SOB will run. We left our hotel in Louisville, KY and drove the 3 hours to PKI. We bought season passes and it only took about 10 minutes for the two of us. Our first ride was Face Off. I liked the seating how you can see the people in front of you. Next we figured we'd head for the SOB line. We got in line about 11:30 or so for the noon opening. We waited and waited and waited. The staff would come by and tell us that they didn't know how long it would be so we waited some more. The ending double helix into a tunnel is incredible too. After the Beast we rode Vortex wich I believe is the best Arrow looper I've ridden to date. Back seat is great getting air on the first drop! Next we rode Scoody Doo. That's a cool little suspended coaster. Next we hit Beastie. After Beastie we rode the dark ride. This is the first dark ride of this stule i've ridden It was very cool. Next we went to the Gyro Drop. the air on this is incredible you think your going to hit the brakes then keep dropping, Then you think brakes and still drop, then finally the brakes. After the drop ride it was about 10:30 and we drove to our hotel in Louisville.
The next morning we went to Kentucky Kingdom. We bought our season passes for Six Flags since they were only $15 more than the enterance fee. We walked over the road to the other side of the park to find out that side is closed untill 11:00. Why they didn't have some one near the bridge I don't know. We rode the Roadrunner Express cool themeing for the enterance. Just another Wild Mouse to the track record. Next we rode the one side of Twisted Sisters. They weren't running the other side due to staff shortages. After several circuits we headded for Roller Skater. The Roller Skater is a good first coaster but thats about it. We then went to ride Thunder Run. T Run is a mirror image of The Hurler at PKD. This was greased to the point the smell almost made you sick. It was running great. Lots of air on all the bunny hops. Unfortunately the on ride photo wasn't working. We got several rerides too. Next we headed for Chang this was my first B&M stand up. I thought it was very cool even though I got my ears bashed slightly. Next we went to T2 their invert. I thought it was an ok invert. I think the best part is the double in line twist. After T2 we noticed both side of Twisted Sister were running. We rode the other side a few times before leaving for home. Next we went for Roar wich was also a walk on. This is my 3rd GCI coaster and its equals the other two in feel and style. After a few rerides we found our way to Mind Eraser which is a clone of T2 at KK. We went back to Roar for another ride and bought our shirts and left for home another 4 hours away. In all we added 28 coasters to our track record! -------------
