4-D Coaster

(SFI) would just decide to give them to some more parks.....or have they already given them to the parks they deem "worthy" yet?

You know, your ability to weave a piss and moan session about SFA being deprived into almost any conversation on any topic (even though everyone has already disproven your theory time and again and is tired of hearing it) at any time almost seems worthy of praise. International Piss and Moan Club Dictator-for-Life or something. You could have all the SFDL people as your underlings.

Its Emperor, not Dictator, Brett. Get it right, dang it!
Oh my bad! Want to join the club Clint? You could whine about WVA not even having amusement parks worthy of the name, and I could whine that I only have Hershey, Cedar Point, Geauga, and Kennywood among others within day-trip distance ;)

I only have 4 major parks close by ... WAAAA
I live in a state with no parks ... WAAAA
My park hasn't gotten a world record breaker, and of course no other installations count for anything unless they're the biggest and the best in the world ... WAAAA

(it was a Calvin and Hobbes reference tho ;) GROSS club and all ... this post brought to you in part by Artie Lang)

I was simply responding to One sides soldier's comment regarding B&M looking for new innovations regarding the 4-D concept based on how orders of their floorless model had declined in recent years....I never even mentioned SFA specifically in that post at all, instead reffering to SFI in general.

Well, yes.

It is amazing how people that don't work for these companies have such insight on thier pending contracts. ;)

Psssh, what would you know about the amusement industry, Adam? Don't you just work for a magazine?

Joe ;)

I really like the "lie down" boarding and can only imagine the loading times and lawsuits this design would generate.

B&M's vertical load is clearly superior. It loads just like an invert, and takes very little time to get to the flying position.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

^Yeah, except it takes the most fun element (the half flip at the top on the Vekomas) out of the ride.

I think B&M's are superior more because of the restraint system than because of the tilting mechanism. I bet you'd still get easy loading if you did the Vekoma style tilting with the B&M style restraints (please!).

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

^The vekoma style vest isn't really a problem,it's the seperate lapbar that is.

You have to sit there waiting for the ops to come around & check each one & given the nature of the employees that SF has on their payroll....well I'm sure you all get the picture.

I think B&M's bussiness is going to start slowing over the next few years due to the lack of new innovations. Flyers and Dive Machines look like they have a good future if they can design awesome elements. But the attention stand-ups, floorless, sit downs, and hypers will deminish soon, Inverts will always be strong. If B&M makes a 4D I'll be shocked and amazed. If they make it they will come! :)
Look to Japan to get the 2nd 4D coaster, and upon its success (hopefully) we'll see more in the states, and elsewhere.

If I were a potiential buyer of 4-D product, I'd want to see X run for a year without any major problems. Well to those that weren't paying attention, 2004 was that year. ;) *** Edited 11/26/2004 10:09:56 PM UTC by DWeaver***
Gomex, I would beg to differ...How do you know they don't have new inovations aviable. B&M are a powerhouse company in ideas, they take a proven idea and impove upon it. The 4-D coaster has yet to be a proven idea, do to the troubles with X.
I can say with some confidence that the 4D concept is not dead. It comes down to which parks want them and who (;)) will provide them.

When I start taking over smaller parks and build up to larger parks, you can bet I'll have at least one 4D, maybe even in WV;)...

I'm with ya Tekno, bring a good amusement park to WV and a 4D.
Actually, Joe, I am selling rides now...how scary is that :).

Due to the troubles with X? Yes, X had its kinks the opening 2 years, but asDWeaver said, through 2004 I think we've all seen that even a "decent" park can get one up and running well. Has yet to be a proven idea? What do you call X then? I don't know how you could get more proven than installing one for the public to ride on a consistent day to day basis.

I'm all for 4-d coasters, the possibilities are almost endless, the thrill is unmatched. The amount of "awe" on these coasters can't compare to any record breaking height or speed coaster. Maybe I'm the only one to think this way, but I guess you just have to ride it to know...

"I'm wondering, if another woman, is really the answer we need." Pick the scabs & Pick the Bleeding
^ Another aspect is decent capacity, which X still hasn't accomplished. Granted they've done a better job from what I could see with having 2 train op on all of my visits this year, but the slow load/unloading process still needs some tweaking to reduce the 2 hr average waits.

But I totally agree with your second paragraph ZZM, X is incredible!

I've never seen nor ridden X, but I can say that pictures of it are completely amazing. I hope that this concept is explored more, because as it has been said before, the concepts really are endless.
