4-4 SFGAm Off Season Drive By

Ok, so I'm a dork.....Annually, I drive past the park in early April to get a glance at the park, since the last days of visiting last season. And since I haven't seen Superman 'live' yet......I've only seen the internet pictures, I was foaming at the mouth to get up there and just drive by and anticipate May 3rd.

I left my Hoffman Estates home at about 1:30, took the expressway all the way up to Gurnee, my home away from home :) Approaching the Eagle, you can notice the ring of new wood at the top, as it's tanner than the regular painted white structure. Passing the massive Raging Bull, God....that is one beautiful ride to gawk at, huh....
I didn't think you'd be able to see Superman from the expressway, and I was pretty much right......up until you kinda pass the park and start to exit onto Grand Ave.

And I made my way to Six Flags Drive, turning right into the main GA driveway.....WOW

Superman, even though it was drizzling, is completely amazing looking! Granted Shockwave isn't there anymore, I could still see a peice of it chillin on the ground, getting rained on....sniff.... ---Anyway, back to the new toy we have.

This ride is a lot bigger in person, than ANY of these internet pictures, none do the ride justice! The lift hill was totally big, I forget how tall it is, but it's pretty darn tall! And then the pretzel just stares you in the face, kinda intimidating, I thought. This is going to shock the #eLL out of people when the enter the park, its a totally different site than what we're used to.....way cool!!
And we all know how Raging Bull gleams in the sun....this ride is gonna sparkle! The bright red is just awesome, and right in front of the park.....Nice move GA! There was a crane working on the top of the lift, who knows what they were doing, maybe chain work? Anyway.....I'm even more excited for May 3rd. My friends and I will be there at 9am sharp.....
Hope this brightened everyone's rainy day, It sure did mine!

You look busted.

thanks for the report. I know exactly what you mean. I had the same experience when I visited earlier in the year.

what I didn't see when I visited was Eagle's work. do you, or anyone for that matter, know what going on with it? and did Supers have landscaping or a station?

anger is a gift

They are basically doing re-tracking of the Eagle's big helix.

I was thinking the same thing when they finally got the ride completed (track-wise). It appears larger than the stats give. It fills Shockwave's footprint beautifully.

Arena football has arrived in the Windy City. Go "Chicago Rush"

Well.....as much as I wanted to plow through the "Closed for the Season" gate with my car....I didn't..
For a 21 year old kid...my eyes are pretty bad, I guess. I couldn't really see past all the damn trees and fencing, but it looked as though all the framework for the station has been erected. No massive amount of blue for the station, I couldn't tell.
Anyone notice how different our Superman is from Georgia's? Ours and GAdv's have a little attitude, instead of Georgia's kinda boring flat turn after the pretzel.....

My eye just caught the difference today, and thought I'd post the difference, no really big deal, but thought it was interesting.

Yeah that is one of the differences between the First genaration B&M flyier and the second genaration B&M flyiers. I think that this has been talked about before.

Whats red yellow and blue at SFGAm...???

So the two new S:UF's aren't clones of the original after all? Just checking, I don't wanna start a war.

------------------
If at first don't succeed, find out if the loser gets anything.

They're very-near-clones, close enough that I don't think it'd be "wrong" to call them "clones". Not much of the ride portion has been changed, and what has changed has only been altered slightly. Chances are, you'll hardly notice the difference, if at all.

Yes I agree I dont think that it will change the ride experience that much
