3 hrs at Rye Playland-and Super Flight

Associated parks:
None

After work me and my friend decided to go toPlayland Park (Rye playland) yesterday (8/17) to check out their new flying coaster - Super Flight. The park is about 25 mins from my house so what the hell. Size wise its not comparable to the SF flying coasters but this 'midget' sure does pack a punch! The spiral inversions are intense and the lift is very unique-its like you're twisting upwards. The car has about 6 cars with four riders per car. You get on it standing up and the only safety restraint is some kind of full body 'cage'. This ride is only 1282 ft long but I enjoyed it very much. I recommend this one to coaster buffs in the NY, NJ CT area. The park overall is very nice, after all its one of the historic amusement parks. Reminds me of Kennywood-minus the boardwalk. Yes, they have a boardwalk, a decent beach, pool and a pier. There is also a lake with about two or three islets for pedal boating which is just breathtaking. They have five coasters overall. The wooden Dragon Coaster and the Crazy Mouse (Wild Mouse) is nothing to sneeze at. But being a government owned park, It had to rely on Established fast-food chains such as Burger King, Nathans and Ranch1 for most of their food selection for additional revenue. Parking is $5 and tickets must be purchased for the rides. Its a cheap alternative to SFGadv. Im definitely goin back a few more times b4 the cold weather sets in. If you just wanna relax and enjoy the soothing sea breeze or to have some quick but satisfying thirlls, this is the place to be. *** Edited 8/19/2004 12:42:08 AM UTC by coy***
