28 million pounds for a vekoma inverted !!!!!!

265 feet of hand banging joy! I can proudly say that i will not ride this ride and if i did i would puke on the whole plane ride back to cleveland
Thanks 'woddy bear' here is the link for the odyssey site, along with the first construction photos.

It says that this coaster has the worlds tallest loop. Now i think viper at sfmm has that honour at the moment. This loop will have to be bloody big to break Vipers record. Excellent.

I imagine some of the money will be spent on strong footers etc as it is being built on basically sand.

Have you ridden any of the Invertigoes or Super Invertigoes?  There's little to no head banging involved.

DawgByteII, just to clear it up..."suspended" is the term Vekoma uses for what we normally call "inverted"...SLC stands for suspended looping coaster.  It's kinda like how every manufacturer has their own name for certain elements...

...good thing this isn't one of the Tussaud's parks, or they'd risk becoming known as the "House of Whacks"...

Is this Vekoma's first custom project with an SLC?  Isn't that a little risky doing such a huge project that doesn't have a lot of experience in this area?

Is it the roar of Kumba or the kumba of Roar? Discuss!
vekoma made the Nor'easter in WIldwood NJ.... its a custom SLC that goes thru a waterpark
The Great Noreaster isn't a really a custom SLC. It's just a little higher and has an extra inversion or 2. This is a complete custom job. It also says that it feature 4 across seating like a B&M. I'd say that the Odyssey is the first real custom SLC for Vekoma that I know of. Are there any others?

First of all, there isn't an extra version or 2.  Its different but the layout of Great Nor East is essentially the same.  The biggest difference is that where the second set of breaks usually is, that's where the station is.
The only other SLC's that are vastly different from the standard model are the ones (2, maybe?) with the extra helix at the end.  I know one of them is at a park in South Africa.
Why am I the only one that's recognizing that Vekoma can now build coasters with out head banging problems?

How come no one has mentoined the fact that HUGe coaster will be completely indoors. Thats the most startling fact to me . I have ridden many SLC s and I find them enjoyable. Why is everyone ragging on a record breaking coaster. Also why does it seem that Europe is really stepping up with coaster production while the US is scaling back.

Because it's not indoors.

I did not know this was Vekom's only real custom made inverted. Perhaps they are trying to break open B&M's monopoly.

The two SLC's that have extra helixes at the end, are at Ratanga junction in Cape town and Lethal weapon at Movie world Australia.

Lets hope for Vekoma and Fantasy island they make a great and smooth coaster. The more competetion in the coaster manufacturing industry the better.

Vekoma is actually building two custom SLC in China. I'm not sure if they have opened yet but they'll feature Vekoma's first Z-g-roll on a SLC.
