220 Drop Tower for Niagara Falls...

A 220-foot-high thrill ride is going to be built on a new WWF store in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The 4,000-square-foot attraction will be operated by Canadian Niagara Hotels. The ride, dubbed the Pile Driver, will propel four cars, each containing four passengers, up a 220-foot shaft and then drop them again.

They are looking for an opening in mid-June.

This was in the Buffalo News a few days ago.
I would have posted as news, but the online site only keeps things for 7 days, and its already been 4 and will no longer have access to it soon. I just paraphrased the article.

That sounds rather interesting,I'm gonna have to make a trip up there again. The last time I was up there in the Niagara falls area was in 99,I went right by SFDL and didn't even get a chance to stop off there.
Is this an S&S ride?

If the shoe fits, find another one.

From what a rep on R.R-C said, it will be a Zamperla model and the operator will have the option to either give riders a shot, drop, or combo.

Extending to 2 pages, it gives the link to the Buffalo News article, and the JPG picture of what the attraction will look like along with reaction. Try looking next time!! The thread is only on the 2nd page.

Its still a good story. They were in discussions at IAAPA in November. I didn't know who was building it until I heard 2 techs talking about putting a tower on top of a hotel roof. It was the highlight of the bar activities that night with all the rain. Anyway, the Zamperala guys didn't know which one was going to be the winner. I myself was hoping for the Sheraton, but who can argue.

Opps~~! Sorry, I did a search for WWF and didn't see it there (I relized it was a few days old)... but do you think SFDL will catch on the bandwagon and try to out-do them? With Fantasy Island getting a tower ride (last season/open this season), and Niagra Falls having one... do you think SFDL will come up with some plan for 2003 or just 'ignore' it and continue as usual?

There isn't an easier way to put it, dude... it's either fact or sugar coating... and I only do that to get a raise at work.
