Just because you worked in a haunted house during PFN doesn't mean you know the numbers. There 5 walk-thru hanuted attractions during 2004 PFN. Theres no way you can account for everyone seeing that most of the time the lines were packed and people couldn't get through 2 in a busy night.
When a night arrives and the Potato Patch is in danger of running outta fries, then you know that attendace is up as well as per-capa spending.
BTW, even though Kennywood's fright nights weren't open in September, the park still was and was busier during these bonus weekend than it ever was running PFN in September.
I'm not trying to preach that I know it all because I'm far from that title, but I do have friends in the right departments.
There's a number that the park expects to see nightly, well there were nights when it went over that number.
Saturday October 23rd was the busiest night.
Even the coldest night which was Saturday October 16th the park had good attendence.
As many deals Kennywood has had this year, and (I can give you the list of discounts that the park offered during the season)...If you looked in the paper, drank a can of Pepsi, or went to Blockbuster early in the season, you never had to pay $29 to enter the park!
I can guarentee that Kennywood isn't going to lose attendence from GL. The majority of people aren't going to drive 1 1/2 to GL and then return home the same day. Your $4 that your trying to save, will go towards your gas.
eightdotthree: Sandcastle season passes were a big success. (When it was hot people came to the park.) I know Idlewild's Season passes were a big success as well.
If I had to take a guess as to when Kennywood will offer season passes, I will say in another 2-3 years.

Don't think so regionally. Not everyone who goes to Kennywood lives in Pittsburgh. For areas that are north and west of the city, it's no further to one or the other.
Will someone in Steubenville drive to Sandcastle, or go to Geauga so they can hit a couple coasters after dark? If it was one hour each way, I sure know what I'd choose.
Of course Kennywood will feel a hit.
It's not about saving the four bucks. It's about perceived entertainment value for the dollar.

Regular tickets are going to be $29? Yep... Geauaga Lake is going to own Youngstown.

rdreaming : Geuaga Lake is by no means a crappy park. But, to people in the Pittsburgh area it doesn't have as much importance as KW.
I'm not from the Pittsburgh area, I'm from New York City. Kennywood has no importance to me past it being a fantastic park with great rides. I've been to both Geauga Lake and Kennywood this season. I think Kennywood is one of the best parks in the country. I think Geauga Lake is a mediocore, crappy park - ride selection, atmosphere, employees, food - in all these areas Geauga Lake is truly a mediocore American park. I'm sure Cedar Fair is going to to great things with it (at least I hope) but sorry, that's just the way it is right now.
