2005 Golden Tickets

Now maybe the Werner Stengel book I ordered over a year ago on Amazon will finally be available!

Congrats to the winners.

I will stick up for Magnum, last year when I saw how high it was ranked I thought it was a joke too. But after the trimless rides at Coastermania this year, I know why its ranked so high. I also feel the same way about Raven, if I left Holiday World after my first ride I would have thought its rating was a joke, but after three night rides I know where that ranking came from.

That's right, it's just a poll. Personally I was pleased with the outcome, although there are a few woodies on there where I was like "huh, WHY?"

I personally voted for Thunderhead and Dragster as my #1's, and am glad to see they are in the top #10.

Actually it looks like Thead kicked all their butts and left them in the dust. I would rearrange the steels a bit, but other than that I pretty much agree with the results. I am also glad to see small, local parks like Idlewild ranked so high. That is VERY well-deserved!

Congrats to all the parks!

<-----who will NEVER EVER call Tsunami "J2". What a wussified name for such an insane coaster.

I think the fact that all ten of the top coasters in both categories are in the United States says as much about the results as anything else.

All the top 10 coasters are in the USA except for Expedition G-Force. ;-)

-Tina

Yeah, I know what you mean Tina. I have a feeling that the name J2 was just kind of thrown together at the last minute and wasn't given much thought.

I'm sure they weren't planning on changing the name after its first season, but whether it be "J2" or "Tsunami", I am still suprised that it wasn't in the Top 50. I agree with most of the things on the poll and can't find anything that really needs to be complained about. Like everyone has said, it's just ONE poll, not the end of the world.

Congrats to all the parks that ranked so highly! They are all well deserved!

Next year's will be interesting. The European parks and rides got a big bump the year after the large ACE trip. Perhaps the ECC/ACE tour this year will shake things up as well.
Another year shold see some changes for a lot of those new coasters, (KK, Hydra, ect.). On the Amusement Today site there's link to the pdf version, (it's like 28 pages long!), but near the top there's a short list for new rides, (both amusement and waterpark), and Powderkeg and IJ:ST both ranked in there, as well as, a few others.

Now officially a Halloween Haunt Cornstalker for Fall '08! www.freewebs.com/chadmicah
I've been wearing prescription glasses for a couple of months now. Did SFNE's Cyclone made it to the Top 50 wood poll or my eyes are just decieving me?

You won't see me coming...

i know this seems strange but could someone please type out the top 50 wood and steel please my pdf is not working. it is killing me not knowing. this would be greatly appreciated
Yeah Coy, it's #43 to be exact, and it tied with Gwazi.

I guess the good news is that your eyes aren't playing any tricks!

One of the things working against Tsunami...it hasn't had a huge number of riders. Do remember that Golden Tickets need *numbers* to win, moreso than Mitch's poll.

I had SFNE Cyclone rated pretty high on my previous (most recent) ballot, LOL...one ride is NOT enough to make a fair assessment on any woodie. Cyclone was *mocking* me from the line over at Mr. Six...

I hope next year there's a special category for SPINNING coasters...:)

^Thanks for calling it by it's "true" name, Bill. :-D Fortunately we have had the pleasure of riding it during it's first year (and in the brisk, October air at night!) That was insane!

Tsunami was in my personal "top 10" on the ballot, along with Pippin and Screechin Eagle. Looks like those two will never have a chance until they get more riders (or when LeSourdville decides to open again.)

Tsunami (aka J2) is an awesome coaster in a forgotten park.

Jack Rabbit the original will probably never run again. The structure still stands but is not fit for a coaster to run on to say the least. The rumor is the last season it ran the train jumped the tracks a few times.

BTW you got to love a coaster with a sign that rates it as EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE.

This coaster is in my top 5 and will be in my top 10 even after I visit some other parks I can never get enough of it.

I would have renamed it THE WAVE!

Watch the tram car please....
Its good to see The Whizzer make that list. Sure its not the biggest, or the fastest, but it is just a damn fun coaster, and for being almost 30 yrs old, its holding up pretty good.

Could someone answer me how come Blue Streak ranked higher than the coaster that "started the rollercoaster resurgence", The Racer at PKI? I have been on both several times, and IMHO, Blue Streak is no match for The Racer.

Magnum over Nitro? I don't think so!

Mean Streak over Qwazi? NO!! Qwazi is a wonderful coaster that for some reason seems to get over looked. It is a lot more enjoyable than some of the coasters near the top.

Nice to see the whizzer on the list as well.

There is no such thing as a terrible Coaster just ones that haven't been taken care of

I cant believe it. Who would bvote for that stupid crappy ass roller coaster. Everyone knows the Legend is the best roller coaster in the world!
Um. I didn't get that memo. :) I think Hades takes that one. :)

i'm not sure what to put here..

I am suprised to see that The Exterminator didn't make it on the top 50.
