2004 Wood Coaster Calendar available from S & D Greetings

Posted Wednesday, August 27, 2003 4:59 AM | Contributed by Mamoosh

For years it has been the status quo of roller coaster calendars: one coaster featured each month, all year long. S&D Greetings finally bucks that trend by cramming 13 wooden roller coasters in its 12-month 2004 Wood Coaster Calendar. Featuring modern thrillers like Celebration City’s Ozark Wildcat, Holiday World’s Raven, and Lake Compounce’s Boulder Dash as well as classics like Kennywood’s Jack Rabbit and Conneaut Lake Park’s Blue Streak, the 14x22 inch full-sized wall calendar is available at a special advanced order price through October 5th, 2003.

The limited edition calendar features information and stats for all 13 coasters, each amusement park, and each contributing photographer.

Founded by roller coaster enthusiasts Matthew Sullivan and Carrie Drabek, S & D Greetings was launched in 2001 due to the overwhelming response the two received after creating Christmas cards for their own personal use.

Any news on the coaster cards, or was it a once in a lifetime oppotunity. I was talking about the trading cards that came from that one company, can't remeber the name. But here is a pic of them, http://www.marchantcards.com/cgi-bin/Cards/5811.html*** This post was edited by Vernon 8/27/2003 4:10:41 PM ***

Why just woodies? Are you going to go with a steel one in 2005 or even a Steel 2004 calendar?

Swoosh - we wanted our calendar to be different than what ACE and the ECC usually do, which is a mix of steel and wood. If this calendar does well I'd look for an all-steel calendar for 2005.

For those of you interested in the ACE calendar, the order form is now available on the website at http://www.ACEonline.org Order by September 30 and shipping is free.

(I'm surprised CB allows advertsing to be presented as a news item).

Jeffrey - CB News has featured announcements about Roller Coaster Tycoon, K-nex coaster sets, and Robb Alvey videos just to name a few...I don't see how this is any different.

To everyone else: I worked with Tim Baldwin to ensure that we did not feature the same coasters as ACE. I've always enjoyed their calendar and it's always been a quality product, and our calendar will be as well. I plan on ordering an ACE calendar for the office [I'll enjoy the S&D calendar at home].

I'm sure Jeffrey didn't mean it that way. I certainly wasn't offended.

All of the merchandise I've gotten from S&D was *exceptional*....and I'll be ordering a calendar SOON....

Good to hear you're working on the shopping cart/check out stuff - last year the cards and other merchandise had to be ordered separately...but my nieces are getting into the coaster frame of mind YOUNG, and that's important if I'm going to be their favorite uncle...;~).

I ordered S&D's Christmas cards last year and in addition to looking terrific, they actually arrived in plenty of time for me to send them out as Christmas cards! I am excited about this year's S&D calendar as I'm sure it too will arrive in time for the holidays, or at the least the start of the new year. The 2003 ACE Calendar does looks great, but unfortunately my order, placed months in advance, didn't arrive until the end of January, and I'd been planning to give it as a gift.

There must have been a problem with your mailing as they were delivered to the post office early December. Most of our customers had them by Christmas. They will however, get mailed much earlier this year.
