2003: Blockbuster year???

I hesitated starting this topic because so much is still rumor. But decided to because so many topics right now feel so negative and doom and gloomy. This one's a bit more positive.

But Six Flags stock and weak economy issues aside, 2003 is feeling BIG to me. I'm thinking back to the excitement of the year 2000 and the explosion of that year and thinking, wow, here we possibly go again.

The possibilities of 400ft coasters, B&M flyers, Intamin woodies and record breaking drop rides have been overshadowed by the demise of CCI, lawsuits, troubled prototypes and bankruptcy.

Folks, I think it's time to start getting excited...

Any thoughts? :)

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

Hmm, I would have thought the converse. According to the rumors and confirmed facts, it seems as if only CP, PKD, SFGadv, SFOT, SFGA and SFWoA are getting *major* rides. I will hold my excitement until I hear some more confirmations
According to an article SFMM is also getting something major, and rumors have been flying around about MiA. You never know what surprises are in store, there are many possibilities, so we'll have to wait and see.

What is it Lassie? Did Timmy fall down the well again? Rough. Did Mr. Wilson have a heart attack? Rough. Is the drug dealer here for his money? Rough Rough. RUN!

Waiting is the devil..................But it's as the saying goes: "Only time will tell."

“If you give a enthusiast a footer.......He’ll want a coaster!!!"

My sentiments exactly, OutKast! I was just pondering all of the new coasters that are rumored and slated to pop up. The midwest is going to be a hot spot for new coasters next year...just like back in 2000.

Yes, it will be a fun offseason. :)

Thank You for challenging TOS: The Ride. We hope you enjoy the rest of your day, here at SFCB.

I certainly can see some record breakers for 2003. If rummors are correct, Six Flags Magic Mountain will get the worlds tallest wooden, Cedar Point will get the worlds tallest/fastest coaster (you know them ;) ), Six Flags Worlds of Adventure will get a hyper, and it goes on.

Of course, I don't really believe Screamscape all that much.....

The ice age killed the dinosaurs, we killed ourselves.

See here's the thing, I'm not confirming or specifying anything. The reason I started the thread was not to post a bunch of rumors. Rather, to start a discussion about possibilities, much as what is going on over at GTTP.

Too much negativity out there, let's have some fun for a change. And what do you know? About two seconds later comes the news of a new wooden coaster company!

I really wish IOA was getting their new coaster much sooner than 2005. Even if they started construction this winter and went into the next year it would be so exciting to actually see some work going on there since most of their major attractions were built in the park before it opened.

Does this thing go faaaaaast!

Oh yah, midwest rules. (does weird Irish jig)

CobraRoller, I don`t think SFMM will be getting the tallest wooden next year. For one they would already have to have started building it and two, I doubt that they would invest in another record setting attraction until they get all the problems with X straightened out. I`m happy with a Scooby Doo dark ride at PKI and whatever replaces the dorment King Cobra site!

It would be great to have a 400 Ft. Tera-coaster somewhere in the U.S.!

Well I think that the Tri-States will be the place to be next year. With a GCI going to Celebration City (a new park) and the new park being built in Council Bluffs, that's two new parks to go to. Also if rumors pan out SFGAm, SFStL and WOF could have some major new rides.

SFMM isnt getting anything for 2003. why the h3ll would they get another coaster. they have 2 that dont work. yu have to fix what you got before you get somethin new. six flags is dumber then we think if they put anything in SFMM. they should just open x as a new coaster for 2003.

I hope it is a great year. I can;t wait til all the announcements start coming up:):) The off-season will go faster if more rides go up.

You're off by a 2 years. It opened in very late 2001 for enthusiasts, and then to the public for a very brief time. It was a coaster new for 2001, along with 2 others. The new coaster would have been in the works either before or a little after the others were announced. The rumored 2003 woodie that would be the tallest seems to be very feasible, especially with Intamin's woodie technology. I just hope that this off-season doesn't spread them too thin. They could be building in 4 different parks...definitely 2 parks. Let's hope they have enough personnel to go around. And who says that Intamin isn't the "next big thing?" :)

That's what I thought they should have done with Deja Vu at SFGAm this year.

Take it up a notch, Mr. Operator! I wanna feel my brains in my feet!

The ohio area will have a blockbuster year that is for sure. With CP and SFWoA getting huge coasters along with a rumored coaster for PKI I think we are all set. Oh yea let's not forget HW as well and whatever they have up their sleeve ;)

PKI is not rumored to get another coaster until 2004. Next year PKI is getting Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle and a, as of yet, un-anounced new ride on the old King Cobra spot
