2001, take a step back

I will not forget early in the winter how disappointed we were about the 2001 announcements. All we had was about Talon, Hypersonic, and Wildfire. I even remember specifically forums about a coaster depression and related stuff. Now look what we have! Simply amazing, a new coaster going in at almost every new major park! The more I look at it, the more I get to totally geekeup inside waiting for X-Flight and Phantom's Revenge. Of course, all oyu out in California get blessed with "X". Let us all take a step back and really apprieciate how much we are getting loaded with! Are oyu prepared for 2001? I think I am. Long live the coaster, and happy coasting for this 2001 season.

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
My parks are still getting screwed... so I am still disappointed by the 2001 season. The closest parks to me are:

Six Flags Darien Lake- On-line reservations and a new bathroom in the campgrounds... whoopie! I can urinate in a new place!
The Great Escape- A circus show... Sorry, I can think of better ways to spend that $20 they had.
Cedar Point- Lighthouse Point... I go w/ my little brother. That's 2 people! I ain't gonna spend no $200-300 a night for 2 people in a cottage! C'mon, couldn't they have had a place for tents there?
Six Flags New England- Basically... nothing! Rumors is about the biggest thing they got.
Marineland Canada- Gotta wait another year or two before they spend their so-called $150 MILLION expansion!
Paramount Canada's Wonderland- Ok, so they got 5 new rides... 3 are kiddie rides, 1 is the 7th portal like ALL Paramount parks... only Shockwave is the cool ride, but it's a flat ride! They've been lagging a loong time.
Six Flags Worlds of Adventure - Uhh... er... ok, this is the only winner of the bunch.

To sum up... I'm majorly disappointed in this season from where I live. No real parks got anything big or worth mentioning this year... they claim "watch for us in 2002"... we'll see... oh yes, we'll see.
2000 was an unbeatable year nation wide, but 2001 is treating my area really well. I'm dead center between Talon, Hypersonic, Nitro, and Batwing. Hmm, where to go this weekend?

I'm two hours from Cedar Point, and that is the closest park to me. I can't drive yet either, so I'll be lucky if I get to ANY parks this year.

Down south here, the only park getting anything is Six Flags Over Texas. One big ride and a lot of little things that add up.

But Fiesta, Astroworld, Seaworld, and Jazzland get squat.
My home park (Valleyfair!) is getting nothing, but I dont care. I can still enjoy my home park to death. I'm also so excited for all the awesome new rides coming out. I agree with Craig, 2001 is another great year for the rides! Like he said: Long live the coaster!

Fierce Pancake: Jazzland gets squat??? I thought they were getting an SLC?

BTW, To all of the folks who are complaining that their parks are getting the shaft... MOST of them got something really big in 2000. MOST parks go in a 2 year cycle. Yes, of course, there some exceptions, but for the most part... Parks don't get huge installs every year.

"X" marks the spot in 2001!

I want a coaster bigger than a 100 feet @ Paramount Canada's Wonderland!!!!!! ARGGGG!!!
I was hoping this year would provide that after having the last 3 coasters being kiddie ones...

Oh Yes! We get Yet ANOTHER kiddie coaster in 2001... uggg...

I doubt they'll add another coaster in 2002, so I guess that i'll have to hope for a -real- coaster in 2003. >:( ARGGGG!! 2001 has screwed me royal.

So basicly this has become a thread to complain about your home park...

Once again...

Not really. It didn't start out that way. It started out with a note of appreciation for what we have gotten.
Patience is a virtue - and I admit I need a lot of it sometimes. But we have to be realistic here....not all $'s can be spent on new coasters all the time. There have to be other aspects of a park that are addressed, too. New bathrooms, new gardens, paint jobs, paving, improved eateries, etc....Plus, sometimes they have other budget considerations to keep in mind.....pay raises, adding more staff, inflationary issues, blah blah blah.
For those who haven't seen fantastic new coasters at your parks this year, or in the past several years for that matter, it sometimes has to do with whether the park simply has the money to do these things. It also depends on whether there is a demand for it at your park. There are many things we don't see that go on behind the scenes, but I'm sure the parks are on top of it all as best as they can be.
Thank the Lord! Almost every park that is within 5 hours of me is getting a new ride...Nitro, Talon, Phantoms Revenge, Batwing, Hypersonic...can't wait til my season starts...which should be about one week when I hit Dueling Dragons, Hulk, and Kraken in O-Town!

Jazzland scrap there SLC because they had to pay off the contractors and add trees and scenery. Also there trying to sue Ogden for putting them in this situation.

The SLC for Jazzland has been cancelled and will be replaced by a kids ride a frog hopper.

Is it me, or are most of the California parks getting something big every year?
