1st Ever CP Trip (It ROCKED)

Associated parks:

For the last three years, my friend Joe and I had planned the ultimate guy road trip to experience CP for the 1st time. On of our old roommates had went last year and told us that it was a blast and we would regret not going. We had it all planned out and then Joe got into a wreck. It appeared as if we would not be able to go, as he had to pay to have his car fixed, which was really disappointing but I had saved some extra money so I decided no matter what we were going. I had talked him into borrowing the money for the trip as it was around my birthday and I wanted nothing more to go and I wouldn't take no for an answer. It was a long trip from Des Moines, Iowa (about 11 hrs) but it was worth it. My fiance's mom had told us that a bunch of her student's from school said there was a K-Mart there that had coupons so when we got to Sandusky we checked it out, oh but wait there isn't a K-Mart anymore. Well we ended up finding CP and our mouths just dropped at the site, seeing MF, TTD and some of the other rides, we knew that coming the next two days would be awesome. Here is what I think of the rides we rode in the 2 days there:

Demon Drop- I would give it a 8 of 10

Disaster Transport- 7 out of 10, although I didn't buy the

WT-10 out of 10, very awesome ride, also great view of Lake Erie

Raptor-10 out of 10, my first ever inverted roller coaster

Mantis -8 out of 10, lost points for headbanging between the 2 bars but my first ever stand-up roller coaster

Gemini-10 out of 10, bonus point for being on the winning team (BLUE), disappointed that the day we were there and rode it was the official 25th anniversary but didn't see the banner to sign.

CCMR-5 out of 10, loses points for not being able to fit taller people

MF-10 out of 10, what more can I say about this giga-coaster, that was a rush like no other

Mean Streak-9 out of 10, definitely the best wooden roller coaster I have been on

Blue Streak-8 out of 10, was surprised at how fun it was for how small the coaster is

Corkscrew-7 out of 10, loses points for being a short ride

Dodgem-1 out of 10, very disappointed on this one, I love bumper cars but this wasn't fun, Adventureland in Altoona, IA has better cars.

Iron Dragon-7 out of 10, very cool especially the mist

Magnum XL-200 10 out of 10, very cool to see Canada at top of hill, was windy when we rode so I felt we were going to fly off.

Snake River Falls-10 out of 10, we were soaked

Thunder Canyon-10 out of 10, awesome ride, got right on as nobody was there

Overall, it was well worth the 11 hour trip although, TTD was done both days, we are hoping to go back in 2 years since I am getting married next year.

June 17th was the 25th anniversary. The banners were out all day.

Glad you had a good time, but I think you need to ride a few more coasters there, crazyforcoasters. Mean Streak? 9 out of 10? Are you insane? ;)

Cedar Point is a wonderful park, isn't it? Perfect everywhere it seems, and the attendants really do try. There aren't many parks you can go to to get free water. That always makes my day.

Yeah that was the first day we were there and we rode it but I didn't happen to see the banners, Mean Streak was awesome, definitely my favorie wooden one so far but I hear there are some just as good, couldn't get on many coasters as the lines were 1 hr long at least and the park wasn't that busy the 2 days we were there, any suggestions on when a good time of the year to go is?

You've gotta be kidding me...No ride at Cedar Point needs to be torn down more than Demon Drop, and Mean Streak, while not always as bad as everyone says, is no 8/10.

The Millenium Force ride Ops: Squishing you where it counts since 2000.
Track Record: 62 coasters at 17 parks.

Well then you need to come to Altoona, Iowa then because you would think the whole park needs to be torn down and the rides there are nothing compared to CP's, so that is why I stated Mean Streak was a great woodie.

We have one for the record books! I don't think I have ever heard anyone say this before. Write this down, journal it, log it, save it, add it to your favorites, do whatever you want to capture this once in a lifetime quote. I'm not knocking you for liking it, I think its actually kinda cool that you expressed your honest opinion w/o allowing the opinions of others affect your opinion.

LOL ...Guys ....quit teaseing crazyforcoasters.
If he LOVES mean Streak...then so be it.
we are all entitled to our opinions. How Crazy and whacked out they maybe...
crazyforcoasters get your a$$ down to PKI and ride the beast & racer backwards if you want fun wooden coasters then go to holiday world and ride raven and legend.... Then go back to CP and ride mean streak.....then you'll understand

------------------
WOOF !

Glad to hear that you had a great time. Don't listen to any of the wise cracks, if you liked the ride and had fun, then thats all that counts. You need to cross your legs on CCMR before they lock the lap bar and then it's not too bad for tall people. Sorry TTD was down, maybe you'll make a trip next year. If you do, try to make plans to head south and hit Kings Island too. Two great woodies there.

I regret to inform you that Cedar Point's newest roller coaster, Top Thrill Dragster will not be operational today, or tomorrow or probably any day that you decide to visit our park. Please accept our apologies.

He is RIGHT, Mean Streak is awesome, ....wooden coasters arent supposed to be built for smoothness, just for the ride, its not like your getting a back massage, this is a true woodie!

A true piece of crap. Legend and Raven are real woodies. Have you ridden them?

Wood isn't supposed to be smooth (although it doesn't necessarily hurt), but it isn't supposed to have transitional problems, shuffling, or violent roughness just because. If anything, it's supposed to transform via heat exchange, and offer a different ride over the course of the day. That said, MS is a perfect example of a ride that was beautifully built, but due to its size, is mismanaged, and unmaintained. To run correctly, it needs to be taken care of in an unprofitable way for CP. Hence, it's been slowed down (which killed it's badassness-is that a word? ;)). The problem is there is no visionary maintenance crew working on it day in day out (like Holiday World's crew) to keep it the monster it was designed to be. It is too costly, and is basically a pariah now.

I hope you don't see my comments as being elitist, as I have some similar tastes myself, but MS is not a good ride. It just ain't! Sorry.

Hey, those first-generation Intamin towers aren’t too bad either! I think they're much more frightening than any of the more "modern" drop rides.
It's all subjective and everyone is right (or wrong, depending on how you look at the world). My son will ride MS 10 times in a row and loves it. He's been on Raven and Legend and likes them, but MS is his favorite wood. You can tell him all the things you think are wrong with it but it won't change his mind.

Congrats on your marriage!
I have to admit that Demon Drop Still scares the Carap out of me there's just something about moving out and just not knowing when it's going to happen. I like it better than most of the Towers

Or height junkies...you do realize they have two CCIs in their backyard, right?

Didn't realize that, Playa. You and your "checking-info" thing. ;) That might have something to do with it. That, and the fact that you just can't convince some people how wrong they are.

Then again, I love Medusa, and hated Batman:Knight Flight, so what do I know? I chalk that up to bad wheels, but according to others on the same day, they had radically wonderful experiences, and I just can't buy that.

Well I'm 6"7' and crammed into the thing. If i can do it, almost anyone can. I don't imagine its that bad as long as you aren't abnormally tall like me.

That wasn't Canada you saw from the top of Magnum. One of the Lake Erie islands most likely.
