Dependable Shuttle Service, (419) 621-1016, or City Service Taxi, (419) 626-1361, in Sandusky will get you to and from the park, at a much lower price than renting a car.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I remember this being brought up before. It's always wise to call the motels first. ;-)

As far as renting cars I know most companies require you to be at least 25 years old. A few companies will rent out to those between 21-25 but you usually have to put down a higher deposit.

Again, it's always wise to call first. ;-)

If only someone would start a Trip Planning Tips thread where these things would be addressed....

Good luck. Most car rentals and hotels refuse to rent to anyone under 18. If they are willing, ask if there are any disclosure statements for damage and what not. They may rent to you if you are willing to pay a high price for any damage.
Rental car companies have an absolute minimum of 21. And even then, in most cases you'll have to put down a huge deposit since you're under 25. Hotels, on the other hand, have always been good luck to me. My mom doesn't ride roller coasters or enjoy amusement parks, so I've been traveling by myself since I was 15. That includes checking into hotels. No matter what their "requirement" is, I've never had a problem. Just present yourself well, and book it with a credit card in your name. If you have friends with you, have them wait in the car while you check in. Breakers and Sandcastle both checked me in within the last few years. Not to mention about every other major chain hotel.
