10/19/02 Hersheypark in the Dark :)

Associated parks:
None

just a quick TR...gotta move on and write another. decided at the last minute to trek down the Turnpike and hit up one of my favourites. it was nice, the park wasnt crowded very much, and it wasnt all that cold either. Great Bear was running AMAZING, enough said. it was sad not being able to ride my Wildcat or Lightning Racer, but oh well....hopefully next year they will open up that side of the park. i assume its a staffing issue, but who knows....anyway, if you are in Central PA, get out to Hershey for Halloween next weekend, its a GREAT deal ($17 for all you can ride), and in such a nice atmosphere:)

Holiday World; Knoebel's-today's cures for today's common theme park :-D

Legend...who would have thought that a tree could be turned into such madness :-D

No Midway America would have made my day pretty boring. I can only ride Great Bear so many times...

Good trip report though! Nice to hear that Great Bear was running very well.

Midway America: Could be a staffing issue, I am not sure. However... this marks the 4th year in a row that Midway America has been closed for Hersheypark in the Dark. I wouldn't hold my breath for it next year.

This past april it was also closed for Springtime in the Park (not sure of the previous year). However, back in 1999 it was open in mid October when GIANT Food Stores had their Customer Appreciation Day (of course, many of the stands and shops were closed that day). Then again, GIANT's Customer Appreciation Day was not a Pay Per Ride event. I'm detecting a pattern... Pay Per Ride = Midway America Closed.

-----------------
Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

Midway America has never been open for a pay-per-ride event. I'm not sure if it it will ever be, but it would be nice.
