SeaWorld Orlando teases next roller coaster

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

SeaWorld has released vague details about a 200-foot roller coaster, and says it will announce more in May.

This Sea World coaster was a big surprise in my opinion. Yeah maybe it will be shark themed. Have there been any trademarks filed? If not, then it is likely that they will piggy back on the great white name.

And that Sea World already has a coaster named The Great White

To be fair, San Antonio is (figuratively) a world away from Orlando. Even the ubiquitous "Batman" ride is considered unique in its own market by 90% of their regional parks' guests...

I didn't know mentioning Intamin makes me a bad person. I thought discussing possibilities is fun but you all should stop bashing me for every possibility i come up with.

Settle down. You're not a victim, no one called you a bad person. Try communicating more effectively.

The thing with B&M's is that as far as capacity and reliability go, it's pretty hard to beat them and as such, they're great for the year-round Orlando market.

I'd suggest Mack are as good as, in both departments. Europa Park is an absolute dream to visit.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Oh, I loved Europa myself, and blue fire actually was a rather impressive people-eater. It's hard to argue, though, that it can eat people as well as Silver Star, although I'm open to being wrong.

Did the "world's tallest roller coaster" in Orlando fall through? Or is Sea World only going to have Orlando's tallest coaster for a year?

Whatever the case, this is cool news. Can't wait to hear more. I'm a big fan of SeaWorld, and I'm very curious as to see what they end up building. I've always really liked the way the company has their coasters interact with terrain and the way they play with theming, and I think this will be awesome.

I'm betting it's a B&M, mainly since they have two in the park already. At over 4,000 feet it's around 1000 feet longer than Sheikra, so doesn't that lean toward an out and back hyper?

Maybe use trains like skyrush.

Have you ridden Skyrush? Those trains (restraints in particular) dropped the ride from top 5 to barely rideable.

Yea. Skyrush could have been awesome. It is one of the worst coasters I have ever ridden partly because of the incredibly painful lap bars.

...I'd love to see a B&M hyper like Diamondback or Apollo's Chariot line the backside of Sea World.

I know! They could use the building where they used to give free beer for the station!

Most B&M hypers run over 5000'. Only Goliath oG (and the mini-hyper Goliath LR) are less.

Alpengeist is just shy of 200ft tall, just shy of 70mph, and just shy of 4,000ft of track... Ooh! Ooh! Maybe we will see the first full circuit hyper-inverted coaster?

But then again, what do I know?

If it's a B&M it could likely be a "Wing" Coaster like the ones at Dollywood, Cedar Point and Holiday World (I'm getting some GLOWING reviews about the latter).

Goliath at SFoG is 200' tall but only has a 175' drop so.

I surely hope not! I cant think of a single standout moment on Alpengiest. I like my inverts small, tight and low to the ground.

The giant elements on that ride are, in some ways, less exciting, but the speed at the bottom of every drop is impressive on that ride.

I was referring to the fact that they already have the IP, brand, Service Marks, etc. Again from the press tease, the [Great White] sits at the top of the Ocean food chain.

No, the Kraken sits at the top of the ocean food chain, but that's already being used, so...

I don't think Orlando needs another looper. An airtime machine would fit in much better.

While it won't hold on to the Orlando height record, whatever manufacturer makes it, I am sure that it will be the best coaster in Orlando.
