Controversial new ride at Alton Towers would have a "significant" impact on a key conservation area at the popular tourist attraction, it was claimed. Theme park bosses plan to cut back about 200 trees from the site to make way for the multi-million pound rollercoaster. Alton Towers claim that of the 146 trees which would need to be removed, 130 are classed as self-seeded immature, diseased or dangerous.
