IAAPA 2005: Spirit of Excellence Awards announced

ATLANTA, GA (USA) – Morey’s Piers, CN Tower and Warner Village Themeparks claimed top honors in the 2005 IAAPA Spirit of Excellence Awards, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) announced today. The winners were announced during IAAPA Attractions Expo 2005, the association’s 87 th annual conference and trade show at the Georgia World Congress Center.

The Spirit of Excellence Awards honor IAAPA member facilities’ commitment to creating the best possible human resources initiatives. The awards recognize outstanding programs for employee orientation and recognition, as well as guest services, safety, and supervisory training programs. Each year, IAAPA also honors an individual who has made the greatest contribution in furthering service excellence. This year’s competition included honorees in six categories:

Best Employee Recognition Program
Winner – Morey’s Piers, Wildwood, New Jersey, USA
Runner Up – Wild Wadi Water Park, Dubai, UAE

Best Orientation Program
Winner – CN Tower, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Winner – Warner Village Theme Parks, Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia
Runner Up – Ontario Place, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Best Safety Awareness Program
Winner – CN Tower, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Runner Up – Asheville’s Fun Depot, Asheville, North Carolina, USA

Best Guest Services Training Program
Winner – CN Tower, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Runner Up – Six Flags Astroworld, Houston, Texas, USA

Best Supervisory Training Program
Winner – Warner Village Theme Parks, Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia
Runner Up – Wild Wadi Water Park, Dubai, UAE
