Developers want to build new park on Long Island

Calverton, NY officials told Newsday yesterday that an investor group wants to buy about 130 acres in Calverton from Riverhead Town to develop an amusement park, and build a resort hotel and convention center with up to 200 rooms, on the northwest corner fronting Route 25. The as-yet-unnamed park would have more than 30 rides and attractions with themes drawn from national and Long Island points of interest like the Montauk Lighthouse, says Linda Albo of Albo Agency in Rocky Point and Wading River, the broker representing the investors. She said the park would include go-carts and some water rides like a log flume.
