X-Flight

I stoped by SFWoA after going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame today (I love spring break LoL). X-Flight looks so cool! They were testing Mind Eraser, and putting the trains on S:UE. As soon as I fix up some pictures (the file size is way to big), I'll send them to some site for them to post and then I'll hook you guys up with a URL. I took about 35 pictures of X-Flight (before the rain got realy hard).

They were SUPPOSED to start testing X-Flight today...... but I guess they didn't... :(

Testing. It can mean many things.

Sure it could mean seeing the trains whiz by, or it could mean about a million other little unnoticable things.

Watch for train testing to begin next Wednesday.

There's supposed to be a big snowstorm coming through Ohio tonight, so the testing could be delayed a little. I can't believe just last week I visited SFWOA to get my season pass and it was in the higher 70s, and now they're talking about snow. I hate Ohio weather. I hope it isn't like this opening day.

Yes and no. If testing means putting power to the computer for the first time and checking for a certain LED to light, they can do that. If testing means running trains or cranking up the lift, then I don't see that happening in this weather. Besides, I don't think the trains are even on the track yet.

With Millennium Force, they took a single car and ran it through the intire structure. Do they do that with all coasters?

Best Coaster: Millennium Force
Worst Coaster: Project Stealth
I did'nt even see any trains on the track or transfor track. There were just welders and people working on different joints and sections of the track and some checking out the lift hill.

Will the have a pull through with X-Flight? They did with Stealth. Since most of X-Flight is the same as Stealth, I would guess not. But since this is the first Six Flags installation, who knows. It all depends on if they deem it necessary.

They probably will have a pull through. It does'nt look like it would take long if they did since the coaster is in such a small space. If they did they would probably have the pull through one day then the next run a train and continue to test.

Now, really, what are they going to do if one of the fingers hits a somthing like a support or the ground. I'm sure they've already computated everything out on computer.

But I've been known to be wrong ;)

That's kind of what I'm getting at. Since Stealth was the first of this design, Vekoma and Paramount wanted to test the heck out of it. Since X-Flight is one of the first 'production' models, most of the questionable aspects have been solved and probably don't require as much testing. Sure there will be lots of testing, but probably not as much as the prototype needed. However, X-Flight will have self-sufficient trains where Stealth didn't so a lot of the testing will probably take place between the brakes and point-of-no-return.
