Vortex FINALLY gets its paint job

I was at PKI today and I noticed that there was white paint spots on the Vortex. It looked like some kind of primer on the rusted areas. All I can say is WOO-HOO!:)

What color do you think Vortex will be painted? I'd like to see it with purple supports and the whole track orange.

When are they going to do it. I don't really mind the whole paint thing, I wish they'd just put soft pads on the seats.

Keep the original colors. I think Vortex is the only coaster with that color scheme, very cool.

While it is unique with it's colors. I still think what the heck where they thinking with those colors!!? I can't wait until that thing gets repainted!! Same colors or not, it needs a new paint job.

The ride right now doesn't need a paint job. It needs its third train back, badly. No but really it does need a paint job.

Rich dark blue with the orange rails is a fantastic compliment of colors. I hope they repaint it that way.

Keep the same paint. And yes, the third car is needed, but I think the line is the same. If you look closely at the doors at the end of the ride (at least I did) I saw the last car. Looked like they were working on a restraint. Wierd.

Vortex needs more than paint.

This once great coaster is in a real decline, performance-wise. This year, more than ever.

Vortex in a real decline this year?? We are talking about PKI's Vortex right? Personally, I thought it was giving some of the best rides it ever has this season. Sure it can be tweaked a little, but personally I think it's running great.

When are they going to paint it? From what I saw maybe about one third of the Vortex was primed in one week. How are they going to get the rest primed AND painted before daily operation begins on Friday May 25? Hopefully they don`t close it for the first full wekk or two of dialy operation to paint it!
I'll give you a description of what I'm referring to.

I've got a bruise on the side of my jaw from the nailing I took just before the two loops. The ride has a consistant metal-on-metal squeal all of the way through, and it never settled into the track.. only shuffled back and forth.

I love the Vortex, I would just like to see it back at the level it used to be at.
I can't wait for them to paint it. I hope they keep it's original color scheme. When it was new it looked really good.

That's Arrow engineering for you. I also notice that another Arrow coaster The Dragon in China has that terrible ear piercing sound all the way through the ride.

That squeek through the corckscrews can be heard from the midway, I=m totaly serious. When I was on it 2 weeks ago, it scared the hell out of me. *** This post was edited by joey isch on 5/2/2001. ***
Dang, do they have to close it to paint it? When will it be painted, cuz I'd like to ride it this weekend!

Please don't get me wrong, B&M-Tycoon, I love arrow coasters, and I love the Vortex. It's a great ride. It just needs a little TLC.
The reason for this ride being so rough is because the transitions on that thing are horrible. Thanks RON!!! And the other reason its so rough is because the side wheels dont touch and nor do the upstops, unlike all intamin and b&m rides all wheels are almost constantly in contact with the track.

CP in 2002, get to the point
About those transitions SmArtAce, my dad had a very interesting (joking) theory. Some of those Arrows seem as if the first hill and loops were erected, then Arrow went to their plant and found random pieces of track that could connect them all, hence the awful transitions. Sometimes I almost think he was right!

Arrow are my favorite designers, and I love Vortex, but it really needs some work.

First off, they need to get larger wheels on it. It will run more efficiently.
Next, there needs to be more padding on the seat. I don't know how many times I got my knees banged on the first car.
Also, there is ONE really rough transition, the area before the boomerang after the corkscrews.
And finally, they need to lay off the brakes!
