Villian at Six Flags Ohio reopens with new lap bars

Posted | Contributed by jesterjes2

Last week the new CCI woodie, The Villian at Six Flags Ohio was closed for unkown reasons. Today the ride reopened to the public using only the red train. The reason for the closure? Mechanics were reassembling the lap bars with new padding. The red train will continue to operate alone while the gray train is retrofitted this week. The closure is not related to the accident that occured recently where a woman's skull was craked by a loose cell phone from another rider.

They should have told the public the reason for the closure before hand since thias was a posititve reason instead of a negative reason. Now if Legend can get some padding!

PINK FLOYD FANATIC
I just got back from there last night around midnight.
Sorry to report it(Villian) wasn't open on the 21st or 22nd:(.
Note didn't stay till closing left around 8:30pm,I really doubt it opened after I left.
The park was packed by some medical company's picnic, they(SFO)were asking locals and travelers to stay away on the local news.
The company had like 36,000 employees. *** This post was edited by DirtyVern on 7/23/2000. ***
legend doesnt need no padding.
OK. The Villain didn't need padding THAT MUCH. Rather than close the ride and piss people off for a week, couldn't they have done it in the off-season? It wasn't a major priority. They should have spent the time fixing Serial Thriller's green train so the line isn't longer than Raptor on a Saturday.
people cant handle the villian without extra padding. it sucks its been closed for a week just cause they need extra padding.

Actually, I'm both surprised and pleased at this news. I liked the Villain except for, as I have posted elsewhere, the "staples" - the unpadded part of the lap bars that CAN cause pain and bruising on the turns. Not that I'm in any hurry to go back to SFO, but perhaps this means the Legend will also get the make-over, and I will be going back to Holiday World.

Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.
the only time the villains bar hurts me is the drop after the fan turn.
I rode the Villain yesterday (Wednesday, 7/26/2000) and I'm not impressed with the new padding. I felt the same biting from the sides of the bar as before but a little more comfort during the turns due to the new padding. I don't think the new restraints were worth the closure. - It could have waited until the off-season. Also, the padding is very ugly and cheap looking so it detracts from the cars which I thought were very well done in the beginning. - wpr
Amen to the Poet.
I agree with everything he said.
Of course, I never rode the Villain before SFO repadded the lap bars. I loved the ride, but I hated the lap bars. Lap bars like the ones on the Magnum or Gemini would be perfect for that ride.
These lap bars ruin some of the airtime!!! They fall down during the ride. It is sometimes hard to get out of the train.
A great cost is supposed to hurt you up. You must not know how to ride then. You push up your knees and ride the coaster. I can control the ride. all you do is sit there and be like a bum. you got to learn how to ride it right.
It took me three tries before I figured out how to ride the Villain. I just hold the lap bar up with my hands. I have not been to the park since 7/4, and I never had a problem with any staples. I have yet to sit anywhere, but the last car. Perhaps the problems were up front. The first time I rode, I found that the lap bar just pushed into my legs and left my thighs feeling sore. My sister whose fat legs barely fit between the lap bar's sides complained about the ride being painful, but I have not had a problem with it.
all they did was tape them omg !!!! it took them a week!!
I have been to SFO 4 times (including opening weekend) and I fell in love with Villain. I have "fat legs" and never had any problems with the lapbars. And I didn't notice any difference after they "fixed" (I could have used my own black tape and got the same result) the lap bars at all. I think the back seat is the best...max airtime...and I still haven't been injured by Villain. Son of Beast, though, killed my legs. Funny...
