Two men shot in Dominion parking lot

Posted | Contributed by speedfreak

Two young men were shot, one of them critically, during a parking-lot altercation Saturday night at Paramount's Kings Dominion shortly after the sixth-annual Black Entertainment Television College Hip-Hop Fest there. The shooting might have been the result of a traffic dispute.

This sounds very similar to what happened at Great Adventure a few years back. The sad thing is that it might scare some people into believing the park isn't safe, and that would be a shame.

While not a shooting there was an incident at Paramount's Kings Island on Saturday, details available: http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2003/04/13/loc_amrep13.html

As far as PKI, I think this is one time the metal detectors did a good job.
That was pretty scary not knowing what was going on at PKI on Saturday. How ironic that they just installed the metal detectors and this happenned.

Yes, I was there during the standoff, I had been lingering around to pick up something from my mom, and i saw about the last 45 minutes of it, I was bored, had rode everything, and had nothing else to do lol

At any rate, kings island ruled opening day!!

Makes ya wonder why it's called Gansta Rap? Didn't something happen on one of those Source Awards shows for Hip Hop a year or two ago where someone got shot?

Charles Nungester.
It is my personal belief that Lesourdsville Lake is closed for 2003. I'll let you know if anything is announced.

Is it just me or does some kind of violence always seem to break out at these hip hop events.

All who think Mean Streak needs a match taken to it say I.

Why you gotta blame that on Hip Hop music? People get shot all the time. It aint got nothing to do with music. Music and rap doesn't shoot people, people shot people.

They call me Sir Lancelot, the "Prince of Camelot".

Charles. It said Hip-Hop fest, not "Gangsta rap". Hip-hop is the broad term for all sorts of rap.

Stereotyping this shooting based on the type of music played is just shallow in my opinion. This "gasp" whiteboy has been to plenty of hip-hop concerts and not once have I encountered a shooting.

I will rephrase what lancelot said, "People shoot people".

Not to mention the biggest consumers of any form of rap music are white suburban teenagers.

I agree with what sir lancealot said. The music didn't have nothing to do with the shootin. I'm african american and listen to hip hop and you don't see me saying the music shot those people. People kill people not music.
coasterphil: no this doesn't happen at hip hop fest all the time.
