Six Flags Pass Processing

I am new to the Six Flags World here, so bare with me. I hear everyone talking about going to the park before the season opens to get their season passes processed. Can I just get a pass when I visit the park in, say, August? If so, is it a big hassle, will it take awhile?

Doubtful that it will be much of an issue in August. However definitely a pain for the first month or so that the park is open. (For SFGAm that would be May and June).

I've found that if I go to Six Flags America shortly after opening it isn't too bad. I suspect it may pick up in May and June though. I'll try to remember to do an update after I get my pass processed Thursday.
