Six Flags Over Texas 7/11 and 7/12

I took a road trip with my buddy, we left Denver at 3:30 pm and arrived at 5:30 am. We parked at an out of business restaurant and tried to nap in the car. Unfortunately it was hot and uncomfortable and they test Judge Roy Scream around 6:30. After breakfast at the nearby Denny's we saw the barricades to the toll plaza were moved. We ended up being the second car in line, still had to wait awhile before they opened the lot.

They started preadmitting around ten, we were able to process our season passes quickly and hung out. About 10 minutes before opening we realized gold passes get in early, hooray for free upgrades. Now for some random bullet points.

Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast. I rode the forward version years ago and don't recall which way is better. It's a shuttle so the point is kinda moot.

Batman Backwards. This ride backwards totally rocks. The loading was kinda slow and larger people require 3 clicks so it slows down the process while the ops unlock the rows to check.

Mine Ride. Super fun, it's like Big Thunder mountain but without much of the theming.

Mini Mine Ride. Credit whoring, the train is smaller and the ride is smaller. I guess that's why they call it mini.

Runaway Mountain. The line moved kinda slow and I'm sure the ride outside isn't much but in the dark it's fun.

Crazy Legs. I've loved Troikas since I was little, so I had to ride this one.

Judge Roy Scream. This ride was a little rougher than I thought it would be, made my head hurt a little.

Pandemonium. This is a fun ride if you get to spin. They should get rid of the rigging and stuff from the Tony Hawk days, it looks incomplete and strange.

Boot Scootin. This is almost like a kiddy ride. Don't know why we bothered riding it but it was fun.

Rodeo. Just like the Break Dance at Elitch, the manual lap bar release and doors are a pain for the ride ops, but the ride is classic and fun.

Yosemite Sam and the Gold River Adventure. I forgot you ride in a boat. Fun dark ride and air conditioning so it works.

Titan. I'm a fan of Goliath at Magic Mountain so I like this one too. And the line here was short so it was even better.

New Texas Giant. This ride is awesome. My buddy is a little too big for the trains so I only went once. Buzzkill.

Superman Tower of Power. Space shot and turbo drop in one ride, super cool. And it's tall too.

Shockwave. This ride is classic and fun. The chaser lights at night add to the atmosphere.

El Aserradero. Log flumes rock. I want to ride in flume 1 though.

La Vibora. Waited in a really long and slow line. But it was okay, I forgot how fun it is. Bob sleds should be more prevalent in the industry.

Texas Sky Screamer. Damn this thing is tall. The twisting chains in the wind add to the excitement of the ride. Way more fun than a Windseeker.

Chartoppers 5.3 Classic theme park show where they sing and dance. Covering music over the decades, it was a fun show. We saw it once each day for the entertainment and the extra cold theater.

Miss Ruby's Wild West Cabaret. I'm a sucker for western theming and cheesy western music. The show was entertaining and fun. The poker face part was a little odd but we went and saw it twice.

Texas Justice. Fun wild west shoot out. Ended kinda abruptly though.

We did experience a couple hiccups though. On the 11th they had a 7-11 promotion, buy a slurpee and get a wristband for ERT after the park closes. We got in line for Batman Backwards 20 minutes before the park closed. We get to the loading zone about an hour later and are denied a ride because we don't have the precious wristbands. Had we known, we would've just left early and got some more sleep.

I'm a huge fan of the Dole Whip at Disneyland, so when I saw on the map they have it here I was stoked. Too bad the stand was closed every time I went past the place.

My friend was on a budget so I booked 2 nights at the Days Inn Six Flags Mall. That place sucked. The room was dirty, parking was sparse, and there's a busy train track across the street.

Dave Dragon, go Dave Dragon, and the Star Force Five!

The phrase that comes to mind: "Damning with faint praise."

NTG - One ride would have been one more than our trip netted...WILL get back for this ride.

Sadly, this ride was down for our visit as well...LOVE Vibora (all bobsleds really).

Nice TR...thanks!
