Oz theme park blocked by one local official

Susie Wolf, a county commissioner where developers are attempting to construct an Oz-themed park and resort, is going out of her way to block the project, irritate her peers and piss-off state legislators.

Read the wacky small town nonsense from The Topeka Capital-Jounral.

What is wrong with having a Land of Oz theme park anyway? I heard that some of the locals were saying they didn't want an Oz theme park because they said that the Oz stories were satanic. I have one word....WHATEVER!!!! I'd like to see this park be built any way.

Unless the locals were thinking of Ozzy Osborne. (LOL!:))

ROTFLMAO:)! Seriously though, what is better? A theme park providing thousands of jobs, or an abandoned toxic waste dump? Is that really a hard choice?

It boggles the mind that the city is so short sighted and unwilling to increase tourism in the area. Hopefully another site can be found in Kansas for all the planning that's been put into this thing so far.

If the majority of people in the area don't want a theme park, then the city should seriously consider their views. The article does seem to imply the community is not united in favor of the project.

This just proves that, whetever someone wants to do (regardless of how much sense it makes), someone else will complain.

Too bad, it sounds like a great idea to me!
She could even have a job there...........as the witch.

An unnerving stillness in the woods of southern Indiana beckons for you on May 11th.....
I think that the Oz people should go to a rival city, thus making them regret their decisions about the theme park FOREVER.

Will there ever be a park prettier than BGW?
What is Oz? I have no clue!

MindBender: You never saw the Wizard of Oz????

I'd like to see this built, it seems like a theme with real potential, and some diversion from the same old themeing everywhere else, but if they don't want it there it seems like there would be SOMEWHERE in Kansas that would. Can't they find another location?

I refuse to add a signature. Damn, too late.
Yea i saw the movie, but I had no clue about this park.

I'm sure that she will eventually stop holding back the Oz project. There's so many supporters she just can't go against it. I also doubt that most of the citizens in Topeka are against Oz. The interviewer probably just went out and asked all these senior citizens.

Oz better not take down Worlds of Fun!!!!
This is the first I've heard of Oz, other than the Movie...but I think ArrowGuy has a point that Susie would be perfect for the Wicked Witch. And Roy Williams could play the "Great and Powerful Oz" since he always seems to be free by the time park openings start.

Once the economy picks up again, I'm pretty sure the project could find enough support.
