Most annoying lift hill

I absolutely hated SOB's lift hill. At the way top of the lift hill, it makes the loudest and most annoying sound ever. It really pissed me off to be in the line and have to hear that all day from literally even across the park. Anaconda's lift hill (if at PKD) is not noisy at all. I went there yesterday, I love that ride and it's not loud at all. It's a nice lift. I hated Shockwave at PKD. The lift went so so so so slow. It took at least 2 to 3 minutes to get up the lift and it's only about 100 feet tall. Iron Dragon at CP was also very slow. I think MF is a little too fast. The only advantage to the fast lift is if someone is afraid of the height, it goes by pretty quickly. A friend of mine was scared of the 300 foot drop, but was happy that the lift went by quickly. For us enthusiats, the speed up the hill was too fast. We like to see the park and experience the tall lift, not rush by it.

I for one love the sound of lift hills...it just seems to help make a roller coaster the experience that it is. Magnum's is great...as is SOB's because the loudness scares the crap out of you right before the 1st drop. The only lift sound i don't like is MF because there IS no sound!

Coasters...the best natural buzz available.
Anaconda at PKD its so loud u could hear it from the other side of the park on less crowded days!
1)SOB-Too darn loud!
2)MF-I know people like this lift, it's the one thing I hated about this coaster.
3)Stealth-Just annoying.
I don't about you guys but I love the clickity-clank sound of many lift hills. it kind of adds to the whole atmosphere of the coaster experience. This is one of the greatest problems I have with MF, the lift hill is not enjoyable.
Most annoying for loudness goes to Lightning Racer, but only when your riding it. Most annoying for time is the ride formerly known as Steel Phantom. You could read a book going up that hill.
an annoying thing (although not a lift) is when the trains hit the brake run on mf. it is loud as hell.

front car on mf. hope you have the chance to do it. *** This post was edited by MFfan on 4/11/2001. ***
On EVERY Arrow coaster I've been on, although I'm deaf, are very loud and I can clearly feel the "growling" or whatever you call that.

SP, Carolina Cyclone, Wild Thing RC, Drachen Fire, etc. etc. all are LOUD!

The Jet Coaster ROARS!
I may be odd, but I LOVED MF's lift. Although it's very short, it doesn't seem like it on the ride. 13 seconds is enough time to think about *really* falling 300 feet. I would rather have it silent than loud, that was why I hated SP's.

At the turn of the Millennium, there were signs.
Regarding Drachen Fire, it did start off with the typical Arrow anti-rollback sound, but in the mid-90's, it was specially fitted with Arrow's first (I believe) attempt at a silent ARB. It consisted of a thin strip about an inch wide which ran alongside the chain/ARB teeth up the lift hill. A wheel on the train ran along this strip. Opposite the wheel, sort of like a lever (or see-saw), was the ARB dog. As long as the wheel was rolling on the strip, pressure was exerted on the wheel, and the dog remained seperated from the ARB "teeth". Therefore, no click-clack. If the train stopped, the wheel would no longer be in contact with the strip, and the lever would fall back, and the ARB would engage the ARB teeth, thus stopping the train. Like I said, I believe this was a prototype, for they had a lot of trouble with the silent ARBs. Lots of downtime and maintenance. At one point, they were supposed to put them on the LNM trains. This got canned I guess. All in the name of Kingsmill - the upper-class Anheuser Busch owned development that sits a mere quarter mile from DF. You could probably throw a rock from DF and hit Kingsmill property. Anyways, they always complain about BGW and the noise. Of course, these people must be complete morons, since BGW has been there from day 1. Who would move next to a theme park and be surprised there are theme park noises? Apparently these people. These are the same people that move next to airports and complain about the planes. Anyways, DF used to be loud, then they got the silent ARBs, and now it's dead silent, due to the fact its inoperational. :) epc0t *** This post was edited by epc0t on 4/12/2001. ***
Disaster Transport! Was it just me, or was that lift hill incredibly slow?
DS lift is extremely slow, but I like this lift the most because glancing at it for a while can make you feel like you are not traveling upward, but forward.
Windjammer's @ Knott's lift WAS sooo annoying! The lift was LOUD and made sounds like this - Clank dud clink choo dreen clank dud choo clink . . .

And it was PAINFUL and LOUD to go up the lift.
For all you people who hate MF's lift, take this into consideration:

MagnumXL200's chain for the lift is well over a ton in weight, and this for a 200ft coaster. Just think how much a chain for MF would way. A normal chain lift was just out of the question for MF. Also, in 2000, MagnumXL200's chain broke from too much stress.

AMERICAN EAGLE!! (RED TRAIN)BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gosh, I cant think of any. I am realy glad that no body has said San Diego Giant Dipper. Its loud, but sweet.
Any suspended coaster.
Personally, with my limited amusement park experience, I find Viper at AstroWorld to be the most annoying. I had heard about how the boarding platform was noisy because the lift hill starts right next to the station. And when I first rode Viper, I found this to be true. Ouch! I don't know if this is louder than Texas Tornado, because TT's been closed when we've visited SFAW.

I agree about La Vibora at SFoT; I remember that it was really annoying to me when I was a kid. But I don't ride it much anymore. Now, the only lift hill at SFoT that bothers me is the second hill on Runaway Mine Train. I hate that whistle!

Iron Dragon's Lift hill is really annoying. It was almost like it was going to stop on the lift!! I think it did stop a few times while we were there! You would look up at the second lift and there would be a train just sitting there I think. Oh well
