Lawsuit says Halloween scares at Dorney Park cause of girl's injuries

Posted | Contributed by Bobbie1951

In a lawsuit filed last week in Lehigh County Court, Shannon Sacco and her daughter seek more than $150,000 in damages from Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom and its parent company, Cedar Fair of Sandusky, Ohio, for injuries they say the girl suffered when a park employee allegedly scared her off her feet.

What's the point of going through a haunted house attraction if you are expecting the monsters to not scare you if you plead with them.

Although, if someone trips and falls while on my front porch, I or my landlord are probably liable.

The park failed to tell her specifically about the "no boo" necklace? If she didn't want to be scared, perhaps she should have asked a staff member what she could do about it. (The "no boo" necklaces are also too expensive, in my opinion, but that's another topic.)

It will be interesting to hear the outcome. I would expect that the park would settle and pay something.

If you don't want to be scared, don't go to a Halloween event. That's seems pretty obvious to me.

And even more obvious to me, if you decide to go to a Halloween event and still don't want to be scared, don't go through one of the Halloween scare attractions.

But Daaa-ddy, the world is supposed to cater to me!

But seriously, the idea that the world wouldn't make concessions to your personal sensibilities is becoming more and more distant.

Aaaaannnd they'll get a settlement. A reward for being dumb. Smh.

I find it difficult to believe that the parent did not know of the "No Boo" necklace. If Dorney Park is anything like Cedar Point, you can't walk 10 feet without tripping over a sandwich board that reads "Don't want to be scared"?

^^^ And stay out of the Haunts.....

I actually think a lot of the Dorney Haunt stuff came from Geauga Lake when they went to a September close in 2006. So I guess at this point you'd sue the GoFundMe guy?

Want to bet that even if they did make it through they would have sued because there was no participation trophy at the end..

I purchased a No Boo necklace at Cedar Point a couple years ago. Yes, an occasional adult will take the risk of ridicule ... it's just a better gamble for me.

In the Hex house (Witch house) a witch was staring at me from the corner of a room and I locked up and fell straight back ("like a board" my friend said) and hit my head on the floor. The lights came on, they all ran over to me. I was fine and laughing, and shook it off. These things happen.

My final thought was even though the witch didn't do anything (as my No Boo necklace was on), she did a great job anyway - and I told her so. It's a scare house!
