Lack of sale for Big Dipper is "killing" anonymous owner

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

The Big Dipper roller coaster, which still stands at the former Geauga Lake amusement park which closed in 2007, will be demolished if someone doesn't buy it by today. That's what the coaster's owner, who hasn't publicly identified himself, said in an online question-and-answer session on eBay.

Whoa is me!

Woosnam said the price the owner paid for the coaster was actually much more than the $5,000 publicly-revealed bid, but he wouldn't disclose the figure.

Of course not.

Whoa, it's you? You must have real "woes" if you're the one they're talking about. ;) :) :P

It's probably killing the guy's wallet and ego more than anything.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Villain was the real tragedy to me. At least it's dead and gone and I've been able to move on. It's been a struggle, but I think I'm gonna be OK.

Is this guy suffering from some form of Stockholm Syndrome or something? ;)

I'm going to set the over/under for actual demolition at March 1st.

Big Dipper: "Mr. Anonymous has been holding me against my will for so long now I think I'm starting to see things his way"... ;)

LOL!

I can see it now, the book, the emotional interview with Martin Bashir, the commemorative, limited edition plate from Franklin Mint...

And nine years from now, a Florida Pastor threatens to burn down Gwazi unless Cedar Point agrees to not tear down any more trees.

This is really becoming quite comical, this guy has really backed himself into a corner on this one and he only has himself to blame for this entire mess. Whatever intention he had went out the door long ago and he has failed on ever aspect. I am not sure if he did anything to help himself. Also I agree Jeff, RIP Villain

There is no such thing as a terrible Coaster just ones that haven't been taken care of

According to google maps, Raging Wolf Ka-bobs is still standing too. I don't hear anyone wanting to save that one. Discrimination!

That's because it sucked. Didn't it hurt some people, and was closed before the park closed? I know it was down when I went just before the park closed.

^Kabobs ka-derailed...I don't think there were any serious injuries...

RWB derailed three months to the day before the park closed and was down the rest of the year. I don't think anyone was injured though.

Besides, this guy hired a demolition company over two years ago to taer it down, so I'm sure it will be all gone any day now. ;)

Actually RWBs had a bunch of retracking done and they were using a Villain train. It was an AWESOME ride we loved it! :)

Maybe this explains why GL never even bothered to fix RWBs after the last "accident"-if I recall it happened during some coaster event but cant remember which one. It seemed rather odd they never even mentioned the coaster again...then we were told about the closing.
Its sad to see good/rideable coasters killed while Mean Streak is still running and SOB is still standing.

Rwb is partially dismantled. The turn to the lift hill is totally gone. All the metal is gone. It is just wood now.

From what I heard, the owner of the Wolf Bobs was able to make a nice profit on selling just the mechanical parts of the ride, while writing off the donation of the track section. Sounds like at least someone knew what they were doing with their wooden coaster!
