Kings Island during 4th of July week

Quick question -- any tip on which day(s) of the week we should hit Kings Island during the 4th of July week? I'd imagine the crowds would be horrible on 4th itself, right?

Jonesing for Diamondback after hitting up Kings Island then Kings Dominion and Cedar Point these past 3 weeks -- nothing beats Diamondback in terms of sheer comfort, exhilarating floating air times and pure re-ridability. Except for Intimidator and Behemoth. :-)

By the way, did anyone realize that all B&M Hypers are located east of Mississippi River?! Nothing westward that river.

Well, unless you count Japan. And I don't know if Germany counts either. I've only been to KI once, but in my general park experience, July 4th isn't terrible. Most people go to the park or watch the municipal fireworks instead of going to the park. Granted, it will probably be a medium day, but not slammed like a Sat. in October.

Is Giovanola. Notice the 2 across seating?

Take into account that KI's biggest concert event is today, Friday, and Saturday. Saturday is the park's Fourth of the July celebration with the park opened until 12 and it has the fireworks at 10 pm from the Beast area. I've been there on that weekend two years in a row (but not this year), and a lot of people were there. The lines weren't awful, but the park was crowded.

KI does tend to get crazy busy on the 4th. Since Independence Day falls on Thursday this year, this means that a lot of people will be taking off Friday as well for a 4 day weekend. So if I had to go to KI that week, I would do it before the holiday and not after.

I was thinking the same thing for my trip to Cedar Point. I would expect that the weekend following the forth will be crazy busy. And, if the cities around Kings Island are anything like the resort towns in my area, they will hold off their big events until Friday or Saturday to get the kings Island crowds.

When te 4th falls in the middle of the week around here, they always wait until the weekend to have the parades and fireworks. I don't think I have ever seen them doing it during the week.

Though the parks my be planning their own events for the 4th and the weekend as well. I went to Cedar Point on a holiday weekend once, and the crowds were hell. I wouldn't see Kings Island being any different. Though it may also depend on what is going on in Cincinatti.

I didn't do it! I swear!!

Not much changes in Cincy. This time of year, the blossoms are long gone from the dogwoods, bedbug families are packing the kids off to summer camp in Chicago and St. Louis, and the Bible thumpers are busy keeping smut off the hotel TVs. Same old, same old.

We're going tomorrow (3rd) and staying for 2 nights so we will be at KI 3rd, 4th and 5th -- I have this mindset that we'll take advantage of rides whenever possible and not worry about the lines and stay at the water park as well.

Weather seems iffy as well so that may help with minimizing the lines. *crossing fingers*
